About this job:

The Accounting Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing thefinancialsystemsadministrationto ensureAccounting and other business partnerscanprocessaccounting transactions andCarMax financials completely and accurately.In addition, this role will alsosupportpayroll related systems of Workday and Kronos.This position manages resources appropriately to balance workload, resolves escalated issues and focuses on associate development. The Manager will champion change,recommend,and implement process improvements while building and maintaining strong partnerships with other business areas within and outside of the organization. The Manager is the main point of contact forallAccounting Systemsquestionsor concerns.

What you will do - Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of associates through timely performance feedback delivered during day-to-day observations, periodic file reviews and an annual performance evaluation.Peerreview the work of others to ensure accuracy. The Manager is responsible for ensuring individual development plans are created and annual business objectives are set. Review and discuss progressmonthlyby playing an active role in the team's development.

  • Review membersSLA'son an ongoingbasis, seek customer feedback and use it to provide feedbacktoprovide unrivaled customer service.Lead the team to create and maintain documentation of processes.

  • Engage with internal and external business partners to resolveaccounting systemissues. Theseissuesmay stem from:configuration ofERPmodules (Accounts Payable,Accounts Receivable,GeneralLedger,UserSecurity, Workflow,)andCoupaProcure-to-Pay;Reporting Solutions (SSRS, Crystal, XML Publisher,Microsoft Access,Tableau);and/or other proprietary systems.

  • Ensure allMonth-End closesystemprocessingdeadlines are met to ensure timelycreationofthe financialstatements.

  • Lead and participate in projects with internal and external business partners to support business needs and promote continual process improvement.

  • Reviewand approvesecurity audits,configuration changesand departmental staff productivity.

  • One or more years of experience leading a technical team to achieve common goals, including managing the work of direct and/or indirectreports

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance orTechnologyor4 years of progressiveAccounting orTechnologyexperience

  • Three or more years of relevant experience in system administration, design, configuration,support andtroubleshootingin large-scale enterprise-wide ERP Financial Systems (PeopleSoft (preferred), Oracle, SAP)and/or Procure-to-Pay systems (Coupa). ERP Experience should preferably be of General Ledger, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, and Asset Management

  • Understanding of accounting principles, Application and Information Technology GeneralSOX controlsstronglypreferred

  • Project management experience is preferred but notrequired

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Intermediate Excel a minimum)

  • SQL and VBA codingexperiencepreferred (used in Access, Excel, Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle SQL developer)

  • Ability to motivate, inspire and gain buy-in from leadership and directreports

  • Ability to champion and adapt tochange

  • Ability to use all resources to make gooddecisions

  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilitiesappropriately

  • Ability to play an active role in associate development and continually offersupport

  • Ability to empower and challenge team members of all skill levels to reach their fullpotential

  • Ability to hold associates to a high standard of internal and external customerservice

  • Ability to engage with customers to actively understand needs and that they arefulfilled

  • Ability to address process or resource issues that impact theday to dayoperations or thecustomer

  • Ability to communicate in a clear and open manner through verbal, written, and non-verbal methods, to all levels of theorganization

  • Ability to summarize or present complex and/or technical information into easy-to-understandpieces

  • Ability to solve problems at the root-cause level and subsequently use available resources to make gooddecisions

  • Ability to read and comprehend basic business reports andanalyses
