HAITI OUTREACH OVERVIEW

                  Haiti Outreach, Inc. is a 25-year-old non-profit organization committed to its vision:  that Haiti, one of the poorest and most underdeveloped countries in the world, become a developed country. One of the most basic and important elements of a developed country is that all of its citizens have access to potable water and improved sanitation. Currently about 44% of rural Haitians, over 4 million people, do not. Therefore, most of our efforts have been to develop and implement a model of creating clean water systems, sustainable by the people of Haiti. We have done so for an estimated 272,000 people to date. Our intention is to scale up these efforts with the goal of reaching 100% in the next 10 – 20 years.

More than anything else, we require the funding resources to accomplish this goal. We seek a proven leader and fundraiser to accept this audacious challenge. You must have the experience of enrolling individuals, corporations, foundations, and large government and non-governmental organizations to support a similar philanthropic cause. JOB DESCRIPTION

1.      Objective Statement

This position exists to provide the leadership and management for all oversight of Haiti Outreach to achieve its vision.

2.      Functions and Responsibilities  

A.      Keep the organization’s activities focused on the Mission and Vision of Haiti Outreach.

B.      Develop and expand financial resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization and accomplish the intended goals.

C.      Lead the marketing efforts with innovative strategies that amplify all fundraising efforts.

D.     Lead the advancement of Haiti Outreach’s brand and industry leadership by being active and visible in the WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) community and by building relationships with other organizations that align and support our goal.

E.      Build, train, and lead a high performing fundraising and marketing team.

F.      Maintain a line of communication with the Board of Directors that insures their continued support.

G.     Lead the Board of Directors to be effective fundraisers.

3.      Abilities and Requirements

A.      Proven experience, ability, and success fundraising and marketing to acquire millions of dollars of support.

B.      Transparent and high integrity leadership with strategic and visionary oversight capabilities.

C.      Non-profit management experience with demonstrated ability to manage, inspire and cultivate a staff, manage, direct and motivate volunteers, motivate fundraising by the Board of Directors, lead fundraising strategies, and cultivate donor relations.

D.     Ability to communicate our vision and mission through numerous channels to reach a broad and influential audience.

E.      Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, and project development.

F.      Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups.

G.     Fluent English required, working French and/or Haitian Creole helpful.

H.     Familiarity with Haitian history, culture, and conditions a plus.

I.       Familiarity with WASH in development countries a plus.

J.       Includes travel to Haiti, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Atlanta and other places as deemed necessary.

6. Compensation and benefits will be commensurate with experience and negotiated with the selected candidate.
