The Project Manager is accountable for the successful management of assigned projects. The Project Manager is responsible for assisting in marketing and client development, technical quality, profitability, schedule, project staff coordination, client communications, scoping and negotiating scopes and fees, client follow-up, billing/collections and maintenance. The Project Manager must maintain superior relationships with each of his/her clients. The Project Manager may manage several projects and tasks, and may be responsible for completing those tasks, simultaneously.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Engineering

  • Prepare preliminary and detailed drawings by hand or using computer-aided drafting software.
  • Prepare construction plans, material requirements and cost estimates for fiber distribution overhead and underground projects.
  • Assist in the development of conductor replacement, structure replacements, and major Overhead and Underground projects.
  • Review field data, photos, etc. to meet requirements of latest updates and technologies of the client.
  • Collaborate with others (civil authorities, clients, contractors, project managers, other engineers, designers, drafters, administration) to devise best network solutions, responsible for permitting, and obtaining right-of-way use approval.
  • Meet with clients to gather technical data.
  • Assist in field site meets; meet with developers, clients, local agencies.
  • Translate Wind Loading/Pole Loading/compliance forms.
  • Review of design layouts and redline changes.
  • Ensure the accuracy of completed tasks through the use of established HR Green QA/QC processes established for each project.

Project Management
  • Prepare the scope of services, detailed project budget and contract for the Team Leader's review and approval.
  • Work with the Team and Sector Leader(s) to determine the composition of project team(s). Assigns tasks, schedules and budget to project team members (including any subcontractors). Coordinates project scheduling.
  • Conduct "kick-off" and interim project status meetings with the project team to discuss tasks, schedules, budgets, etc.
  • Responsible for completing each project on time and on budget. Regularly monitors project schedules and budgets throughout the project life. Responsible for leading formal Project Reviews for his/her projects.
  • Responsible for determining if a contract needs to be amended and immediately seeks approval of from the CSM and supervisor when changes in a project's budget or scope are necessary.
  • Serve as primary client contact for selected projects.
  • Responsible for coordinating the timely invoicing and collection of fees.
  • Assure project correspondence is complete and appropriate and that established lines of communication are maintained with the client, contractors, sub-consultants and team members.

Business Development
  • Provide input into the creation of marketing plans and maintains regular and accurate record of marketing activities with individual clients. Identifies project opportunities and provides input to the Go/No Go decision.
  • Direct the preparation of proposals and interviews.
  • May present projects to clients on a regular basis and may present the proposal to the client and/or take a lead role in the interview.
  • Maintain contact with the client after the project is completed and cross markets such other services as is appropriate (in conjunction with Client Service Manager, where appropriate).

Team Leadership
  • Managing project teams to develop, execute and complete assignments
  • Organizing team roles and evaluating employee performance
  • Documenting operational tasks and reporting to upper-level management
  • Performing employee reviews and assessments
  • Manage hiring, new employee onboarding and training

Education and Experience
  • Has a B.S. degree in engineering, GIS, or a scientific area.
  • Has ten or more years' experience in area of technical specialty (e.g. engineering, architecture, or GIS).
  • Thorough understanding of project accounting and a demonstrated ability to manage the schedule and budget for multiple projects at the same time.
  • Experience in marketing and supervision of the technical work of others.
  • Working knowledge of technical and office support software required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Compensation Range

$100,500.00 - $155,000.00

The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
