Job Description

Position Summary

The Tax Associate performs most work assigned with a minimum of assistance. Includes CEO or manager in decision-making as appropriate. Motivated self-starter uses a high level of independent judgment and discretion in completing duties of the position. Processes all aspects of paying and filing payroll taxes, providing a high level of customer service. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, both internally and externally. Demonstrate efficiency and flexibility in performing detailed tasks in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions, changing priorities, and multiple deadlines. Assist in the reconciliation of payroll accounts as needed. Maturity in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters. Problem solving and research skills required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs diversified auditing and tax assignments under the direction of supervisor, manager or CEO.
  • Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.
  • Meets time constraints and client/agency deadlines.
  • Prepares tax payments for Federal, State and Local Entities.
  • Assists in preparing and filing monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns
  • Corresponds with client and taxing authorities when necessary
  • Research and respond to tax agency and client correspondence

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High level technical expertise in the full range of federal, multi-state, and local payroll taxes.

Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.

High level of initiative and self-motivation

Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities is required.

Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.

Demonstrated research, planning and organizational administrative skills required.

Ability to perform tax planning and tax due diligence

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

    • 2-4 college degree from an accredited college (Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.)
    • Prior experience processing payroll or payroll taxes preferred.
    • Proven facility in MS Office, data entry and office equipment.
    • Proven facility in customer service, and problem resolution.
    • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
