Our North American Semiconductor group is searching for an experienced Applications Engineer/Wet Lab Manager in our office in Portland, OR. Under the general supervision of the Director, Sales & Marketing, the Applications Engineer/Wet Lab Manager will support sales and marketing and interface with HORIBA’s global network of Applications Engineers. This position will be responsible for the application development and support of HORIBA products for wet process such as cleaning, etching, CMP processes. This position will also manage the wet process laboratory including safety, compliance and maintenance.
Create new application of HORIBA product related to wet process in semiconductor processes, such as cleaning, etching, CMP etc.
Design and perform chemical concentration monitoring experiments according to customer request using HORIBA products such as chemical concentration monitor, pH meter, and conductivity meter. DOE, data analysis, report writing and presenting materials with the sales team to customers. Responsible for handling various chemical samples including customer samples used for wet process in semiconductor manufacturing.
Communicate with sales, R&D and the customer to review experimental results and to make presentation materials around those results.
Visit customer site with sales to collect technical information about customer’s requests and information such as process and process tools. Support sales with technical information and knowledge. Support HORIBA product introduction and propose applications for HORIBA product.
Coordinate application knowledge and information sharing globally with the applications team. Collect market information for wet process in US, visiting customers, conferences, application development and contribute the development of new products in R&D through these activities.
Manager the chemical laboratory including safety and design of experiment such as storing, disposal, receiving chemicals. Improve the management and procedures related to chemical laboratory management. Communicate safety requirements to staff in HORIBA. Regularly conduct permit applications and review with local organizations such as local government, fire department etc. when needed.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience running experiments and handling chemicals and analytical spectroscopy equipment in the semiconductor industry.
- A bachelor’s of science degree in chemical engineering, an advanced paralleling chemical engineering degree or an associate of science degree in chemical engineering with extensive experience.
Knowledge related to wet process in semiconductor such as cleaning and etching, CMP process.
- Experience managing a chemical lab preferred.
Four years’ experience with semiconductor tools and applications and four years in engineering/applications.
