Field Service Rental Fleet Technician - Power System Division

Essential Functions:

  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Maintains rental fleet assets in a safe and ready to rent condition
  • Performs preventative maintenance service and minor repairs on the rental fleet assets
  • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Performs equipment check in and check out procedures
  • Completes necessary paperwork and/or documentation for Supervisor or Rental Administration Manager to ensure timely customer invoicing
  • Prepares and completes all job related documents, write service reports, order parts, and maintain clear customer records; in addition, access databases required to complete a job
  • Performs daily emergency dispatch/delivery of equipment to customers both regular and after hours as needed
  • Provides basic instruction on proper operation of equipment to customers
  • Perform minor repairs and service in the field as needed and verify proper operation of all repairs
  • Maintains service log books as required by Department of Transportation
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customer needs
  • Coordinators and performs equipment set up and tear down at events and customer sites
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
  • Regular and punctual employee attendance required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advance knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • General mathematical skills to include basic adding, subtracting, multiplication and division
  • Advance skills in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing: engines, generators, AC and DC circuits, air compressors, light towers, and temperature control equipment
  • Planning and organizing skills to prioritize and plan work activities; used time efficiently; plans for additional resources
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Basic diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills
  • Operation and control skills of equipment or systems
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to read, write, and understand information
  • Equipment selection skills to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under fast-paced, time constraining circumstances
  • Ability to operate a conventional forklift
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, additional specialized/technical training or some college preferred
  • Three or more years’ experience required, five or more years’ experience preferred


  • Travel required for this position with possibility of an overnight stays associated with training, equipment set-up and tear down activities, or emergency jobs

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s license required
  • Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and must have an acceptable driving record
  • Must own required tools to perform repairs
