JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is expanding and has an immediate opening for a field-based Biotech Sales Specialist based in Boston. This position is responsible for identifying new business, engaging new and existing sales, and driving all sales opportunities primarily within the biotech and biopharma industry. The right candidate will join a customer-centric team to nurture the customer experience with Applications and Technical Support, Marketing, Quality, Production, R&D, Customer Service, and Shipping departments and will report to the Global Director of Sales.
This is a full-time, remote, field-based position covering the Northeast to support domestic customers located in regions outlined by the Global Director of Sales (east of Mississippi River). The responsibilities outlined below may fluctuate depending on the number of projects, sales opportunities, and current business priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and executes successful sales strategies for rapid revenue growth and market share expansion in Northeast territory
Works collaboratively with Applications and Technical Support and Customer Service to achieve performance targets while exceeding customer expectations
Achieves annual product sales goals set for the territory while working in coordination with the local assigned team within their territory
Maintains accurate and timely opportunity funnel and customer data in customer relationship management (CRM) portal (e.g., Salesforce) with guidance as needed
Achieves high levels of customer satisfaction through delivery of sales and support assistance and coordinates product evaluations, technical and application support, and customer training
Works with prospective and current customers to increase awareness, influence, and presence across territories
Monitors and develops awareness of competitive activities and strategies. Identifies, engages, nurtures, and closes sales opportunities. Reports on territory and account sales relevant to their region
Generates forecasts for their region on a periodic basis
Represents our company within the biotech and biopharma community, including local and large industry trade shows and on-site customer visits
Actively provides feedback regarding customer requirements, product evaluations, and general product improvements.
Generates new ideas that grow market share and improve customer satisfaction
Obtains feedback and organizes voice of the customer (VOC) information Assesses competition and customer feedback to understand our success or failure in the market and suggests changes to our products, messaging, and customer support for improvement
Maintains strong working relationships within Marketing, Applications and Technical Support, Customer Service, Product Management, Operations, and Shipping departments
Stays abreast of the latest trends in the field via literature and personal communications with researchers and other life science suppliers.
Develops leadership, mentorship, exemplary work ethic, and model behavior consistent with our core values

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or a life sciences-related, or commensurate work experience.
MBA, or Master’s degree or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or a life sciences-related discipline, commensurate experience preferred
10+ years of bioprocess-related sales experience. Need to be able to understand viral vector (AAV & LV) drug manufacturing, cell and gene therapies, GMP, scale up, bioreactors, etc.
Significant experience working within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, an exceptional ability to operate at the intersection of science and business, and drive value creation through external innovation
Highly driven, proactive individual with a strong motivation to succeed and drive business growth
Experience in Cell and Gene Therapy is a plus
Experience with transfection, electroporation, and viral transduction workflows is a plus
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (e.g., Salesforce or other) preferred
Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
Effective in opportunity management, problem-solving, organization
Comfortable with setting and upholding deadlines, working in a cross-functional team setting
Approachable, friendly personality and ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment
Product management, marketing, or technical support experience in a life sciences company is preferred
Ability to travel independently up to 50%, including overnight travel; Ability to drive a vehicle; Must have current and valid U.S. driver's license; Ability to travel by air; Must have current and valid U.S. passport
