Job Description

Our Hilton Hotel located in the Capital District of downtown Albany, is looking for a Part Time Front Desk/Guest Service Representative to join our Team.  The hotel is a five-minute walk from Times Union Center and boasts spectacular views of the Hudson River and the New York State Capitol.  

Front Desk / Guest Service Representatives have that genuine warmth and authentic approach that is the first impression our guests have and sets the tone for their entire stay. They read cues, anticipate our guests' needs, and look for ways to delight them. They enjoy making wonderful memories for the family on vacation or the client at a conference, tailoring their service to the unique needs of the guests.  Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Greet guests and complete the registration process to include, but not limited to, inputting and retrieving information from the computer, confirmation of guest information and room rate, selection of rooms, coding electronic keys, promoting marketing programs, providing a welcome packet and ensuring guest knows location of room and/or has a bell person accompany him/her
  • Assist guests with check-out including, but not limited to, ensuring rooms and services are correctly accounted, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards, accepting and recording various forms of payment, converting foreign currency, making change and processing gift certificates and cards
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of hotel information including, but not limited to, room categories, room rates, packages, promotions, the local area and other general product knowledge and answer guest questions and inquiries
  • Use up-selling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities and to maximize room occupancy
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
  • Field guest complaints, conduct research and resolve and negotiate solutions for guest satisfaction
  • Receive, input, retrieve and relay messages to guests


  • 1 year of customer service preferred
  • Previous Hilton experience a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a basic working knowledge of a computer including word and be able to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities
  • Must display very good organization and time management skills
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 20 pounds without assistance
  • To always maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance
  • Must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
