Industry: Technology/Software Location: West Des Moines, Iowa Position Summary: Our client is an established major national SAAS (software as a service) enterprise software provider with $200MM+ in annual revenues. They create market-leading benefits enrollment and employee management solutions for some of the biggest companies in the world. Our client is also growing at a rapid pace and has just received a massive injection of VC capital. The Senior Financial Accountant is primarily responsible for oversight and preparation of the company’s books and records in accordance with US GAAP.

The role will manage the month-end close cycle and perform related Treasury functions. In addition, this position will assist with tax and audit compliance requirements of the Finance and Accounting Department. The Senior Financial Accountant will also instruct and direct Accounting Specialists, AR Specialists, and Interns and complete special projects assigned by the CFO and Corporate Controller. Responsibilities • Assists in leading and coordinating work performed by Accounting Specialists/AR Specialists and Interns • Maintains and produces internal and external financial reports in compliance with the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), including in-depth knowledge of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition Guidance • Adherence and development of the department's policies and procedures • Develops and performs completion of month-end, quarterly, and annual financial close work • Prepares Financial Schedules and related support for the annual audit (or other audits) • Performs various detailed month-end account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, expense allocations, intercompany eliminations and consolidations • Maintains Fixed Asset (PP&E) ledgers (US GAAP, Federal Tax and State Tax) • Prepares Monthly Expense Analytics Summary memorandums • Performs accounting for lease agreements, including deferred rent calculations, leasehold improvement amortization in accordance with ASC 840Analyzes financial information for trending to deliver value-added business insights in support of management's decision making • Assists with the annual budget process • Performs Treasury related functions, such as initiating vendor payments and disbursements and payroll-related reconciliations, benefit allocations and cash forecasting analysis • Oversees and monitors employees expense reimbursements for timely payment, and in compliance with Company policies and procedures • Coordinates booking and sales information for the calculation of sales commissions payments • Calculations of Debt Covenants and Banking/Financial Institution reporting • Preparation of Tax Compliance information for Federal, State and Local filings and related compliance payments • Maintains and produces internal and external financial reports in compliance with the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) • Develops and performs completion of month-end, quarterly, and annual financial close work • Prepares Financial Schedules and related support for the Audit (Annual or other) • Performs various detailed month-end account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, expense allocations, intercompany eliminations and consolidations • Prepares Monthly Expense Analytics Summary memorandum • Analyzes financial information for trending to deliver value-added business insights in support of management's decision making • Performs Treasury related functions, such as initiating vendor payments and disbursements and payroll-related reconciliations, benefit allocations, and analysis • Monitors employees expense reimbursements for timely payment, and in compliance with Company policies and procedures • Coordinates booking and sales information for the calculation of sales commissions payments • Calculations of Debt Covenants and Banking/Financial Institution reporting • Preparation of Tax Compliance information for Federal, State and Local filings and related compliance payments • Responsible for special projects as assigned Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA or other advanced accounting or finance degree welcomed • 3-5 years of accounting experience in a corporate environment and/or public accounting experience (Big 4 preferred) required • In-Depth knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) required • Analytical, ability to effectively multi-task and strong written/verbal communication skills • Professional conduct in a corporate environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and excellence in responsibilities, assigned • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required • CPA preferred
