The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

Benefits

  • Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.

Recruitment

  • Handles all recruitment tasks for the warehouse and office location (reviews applications, interviews).

Employee Success

  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
  • Conducts new-employee orientations; supports in the development of the orientation.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
  • Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action.
  • Coordinates termination (voluntary and involutary) efforts.
  • Monitors tardy and absenteeism reports and ensures proper documentation is issued on employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems.
  • Maintains employee personnel files.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.

Safety

· Supports the Safety Committee, VP of Loss Prevention, in ensuring that all OSHA and safety policies are followed.

· Coordinates the investigation of any workplace accidents; handles the Worker’s Compensation process.
Coducts investigations (harassment, hazard, discrimination).

Payroll

  • Weekly supports in the collection of payroll needed items.
  • Reports vacation, sick, personal day and holiday use to payroll and scheduling.

Compliance

  • Prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
  • Administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job operates in a clerical office setting. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

TRAVEL

No travel is required for this role.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

2. 5+ year of previous HR experience.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
