The compliance manager position is responsible for legislative affairs, policy development and legal compliance for the organization. This position participates in product development services to existing and potential customers and interacts with all corporate management and personnel. This person is considered the subject matter expert on cannabis regulations and acts in a consultative role and conducts audits across the company, providing direction and ensuring that operational processes and record keeping are acceptable based on the letter and spirit of California Cannabis regulations

§ Serves as the company’s legislative representative by keeping abreast of all current political issues and proposals, communicating the company’s position to our legislators and obtaining their support.
§ Serves as the corporate compliance officer as appointed by the board of directors.
§ Ensures corporate policies are accurate, current and in compliance with federal and state regulations. Reviews and updates policies as laws change.
§ Interprets and disseminates information on regulatory matters.
§ Communicates current state of legislative issues to management and the board recommending the company’s position.
§ Develops and updates compliance issues in manuals, as needed.
§ Develops/modifies company forms and contracts used in business operations.
§ Makes presentations to the board of directors on status of legislative information.
§ Oversees internal process and activity across HERBL busniess units to ensure record-keeping and operational processes are compliant
§ Conducts or oversees audits
§ Acts for training and correcting regulatory compliance issues or risks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
40% of travel required for this role.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Three years’ compliance/regulatory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or equivalent experience.
- Ability to interpret regulations and laws and disseminate information.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, exempt position. Hours of work vary based on the needs of the business. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
