Data Compliance Specialist

Hours: Monday - Thursday

Status: Full Time

Reports to: AHP Supervisor


Under the supervision of the AHP Supervisor, this position ensures data compliance, and is the initial point of service for clients at HELP of Southern Nevada's Homeless Services Department.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains all computer records in the data intake system, including, but not limited to, the inputs of client demographics and services provided.
  2. Provides a wide variety of referral information to clients.
  3. Make referrals and assist with support services, as needed.
  4. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the waiting room area.
  5. Responsible for entering into the HMIS system information, as well as requests for checks.
  6. Serves as an information collection point between clients and case managers. Ensures data compliance and accuracy.
  7. Responsible for keeping clients, what programs they're with, and what case managers they're assigned to accurately entered into the computer database.
  8. Order office supplies as needed, and handle issues with office equipment.
  9. Responsible for incoming and outgoing mail.
  10. Responsible for answering the main phone line into the department.
  11. Responsible for ensuring the proper forms are available for use.
  12. Provides crisis intervention as needed.
  13. Will box up old files for archiving purposes.
  14. Attends training when available.
  15. Other duties, as may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of local social service agencies and programs, as they pertain to homeless individuals.
  2. Knowledge of social service work, interviewing/referral techniques.
  3. Experience and understanding of homeless issues.
  4. Communicate effectively with persons from a variety of social, cultural, and economic backgrounds, and display a demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to culturally diverse populations.
  5. Effective written, verbal and listening skills, and the willingness to independently initiate and respond to various correspondence.
  6. Ability to maintain order and exercise appropriate judgement in crisis situations.
  7. Flexible, and able to quickly adjust to shifting priorities.
  8. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, follow employees, other agencies and with the general public.
  9. Organize work schedule and budget time.
  10. Understand and follow all agency policies and procedures.
  11. Experience with data entry and HMIS.
  12. General computer knowledge and the ability to use Microsoft Office software.
  13. Ability to work flexible hours, as required by the program.

Qualifications, Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience working with homeless individuals.
  2. Data Entry and HMIS experience required.
  3. Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Random drug screenings are performed.
  4. Must have a current NV driver's license and clean DMV record. Driver History Reports are required to be submitted on a quarterly basis.
