Under the general supervision of the Director of Emergency Department, the ED Nursing Supervisor/ Manager assumes responsibility for all functions in the Emergency Department. In collaboration with the Director and members of the medical staff, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of quality of patient care services provided in the department by all levels of practitioners. The ED Nursing Supervisor/ Manager in the Emergency Department:
A. Initiates, guides, and directs the coordination of all Emergency Department functions.
B. Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff.
C. Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided in the Emergency Department.
D. Makes decisions regarding activities within the department based on Hospital Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, Department of Nursing Standards, and Emergency Department Standards with collaboration with the Director in unusual situations.Persons in this category are responsible for consideration of developmental issues of patients in each of in each of the following ages identified:

This position may from time to time require that patients be cared for outside the normal age group. In this event the person should consult available resources to provide appropriate care.
A. Current licensure in the State of Texas as a Registered nurse.
B. Bachelor's Degree preferred
C. Minimum of three years clinical experience in the Emergency Nursing with an emphasis on leadership and management.
D. Current verification of competency in BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC required. CEN preferred
