Job Description

JOB TITLE: Technical Sales and Service (North, South, and Central America)

DEPARTMENT: Sales and Service

REPORTS TO: Director of Sales and Service

FLSA: Exempt

STATUS: Full Time

DIRECT REPORTS: 2-5 Field service technicians

COMPENSATION: $85,000-$105,000 annual depending upon experience and qualifications

You will own existing and new accounts in North, South, and Central America for technical sales and service. You will pursue new accounts in the region, and you will manage a small team of service representatives. You will have accountabilities in sales and service, administration, and operations activities to ensure strong customer relationships.

Business Development and Customer Relationships

  • Develop strong relationships with customers, from senior management level to operational level
  • Prepare business proposals, assure contract renewals, and follow up on contract documents
  • Seek new business opportunities
  • Monitor the industry and markets, competitors' activities, and regional developments
  • Effectively communicate customer activity that would affect sales and service goals
  • Assess customers’ production needs to advise proper format selections, operating speed, and other operating parameters

Service Department Management

  • Provide direct supervision and management of the service department. Manage staffing, work hours, and part orders to meet budget goals
  • Proactively problem solve within the department
  • Oversee and support repairs, overhauls, preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment
  • Ensure that training and guidance is being provided by the service department to the customer’s personnel so the customer can successfully operate, maintain, and overhaul equipment
  • Ensure the service department is maintaining spare parts inventory such that there is adequate on-hand supply to support production and customer needs while maintaining budget and inventory objectives
  • Coordinate routine machine audits and monitor machine performance against established standards
  • Consistently and accurately follow standard work procedures, safety procedures, policies, etc.
  • Continue to develop the service team by providing appropriate training, coaching, and tools necessary to provide excellent customer service and handle complaints with professionalism
  • Collaborate with engineering team to identify and address technical issues and implement solutions such as carry out Service Bulletin changes


  • Report to Director of Sales regarding business, market status, and service activities
  • Lease administration: communicate with corporate Lease Administrator to ensure all leases are up to date, accurate, and properly executed by the customer
  • Prepare, input, and manage budget for machine and project forecasts, revenues, expenses, parts usage, and service hours
  • Monitor accounts receivable status and customers’ financial performance
  • Coordinate, attend, and participate in industry trade shows and exhibitions
  • Attend and participate in annual sales meetings
  • Spare Parts Orders: review, approve, and submit parts orders to corporate for processing. Monitor parts orders statuses
  • Review, edit, and ensure all shipping, freight, importation, and duties documents are correct
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Advanced ability to read, write, and speak both English and Spanish preferred
  • Must have or be able to obtain a passport for international travel
  • Must have easy access to a major airport
  • 5 years of experience managing customer relationships for sales and service in a technical industry preferred
  • 40% Travel
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical, agriculture, engineering and/or scientific discipline preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in:
    • Managing schedules and small teams
    • Presenting technical information
    • Verbal and Written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • High degree of professionalism including ability to maintain confidentiality
  • High degree of integrity and business ethics
