DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Medicaid, Commercial, Medicare, Workers Compensation, Carelink, and all other miscellaneous billing. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, DSM5 codes as well as modifiers and crosswalks. Ensures accuracy and timely submission of electronic and paper claims. Assist all clients and insurance carriers in relation to billing questions. Updates all client information monthly for accuracy. Process patient statements and patient account reconciliation. Establish and maintain a working relationship with provider representatives at all insurance carriers. Back-up for other billing needs as necessary. Working knowledge of Guidance Center’s computer system. Maintain confidentiality for all information regarding clients, staff, physicians, and GCLC obtained as a result of employment at GCLC. All other duties as assigned by the Billing Manager.
Participate in development of Safety Plans, SELF Care Plan and participate in Community Meetings. View all clients through the trauma lens of “what has happened to you” rather than “what is wrong with you”. Staff problem solve using the SELF Tool of Sanctuary – Safety, Emotions, Loss and Future.
High School diploma or GED required. Minimum 2 years billing experience preferable in Medical or Mental health. Working knowledge of Word Perfect and spreadsheet software with a minimal typing speed of 50 w.p.m. required.
CONDITIONS OF WORK:
Hiring and promotion will be accomplished in compliance with GCLC’s Equal Employment Opportunity Policy. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Overtime (time and 1/2) will be paid for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week with prior approval from supervisor required. This position requires 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday. Hours of day may vary according to need. Travel is required of employees for delivery of services, training, or conferences. Personal transportation is mandatory.
