We are based in Rockville, MD and have an excellent team of 85 employees who are responsible for the design, installation, and inspection of fire alarms, sprinkler systems, kitchen fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, and kitchen hood/duct systems. We have an extensive customer base with over 10,000 fire systems that we perform recurring inspection and repair services throughout the region. About The Position

Guardian is hiring an Installation Specialist / Coordinator for our Fire Suppression Installation division. The ideal candidate will be very well organized, goal oriented and have excellent communication, follow through and multi-tasking skills. This position is responsible for assisting the Fire Suppression Installation Manager with overseeing the installation of restaurant kitchen pre-engineered fire suppression systems.

We primarily install Ansul R-102 fire suppression systems which are installed in the exhaust hood of a restaurant to protect the cooking appliances, hood, duct and plenum from fire. These systems are required in every commercial kitchen and we work with contractors throughout the region to install them in new and remodeled restaurants. No prior knowledge of these systems is required, we will train you on the fire suppression system, however prior Project Manager type of experience with coordination of construction projects will be helpful.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to

  • Assist in managing the daily operations of the Kitchen Fire Suppression Installation department.
  • Assist coordinating multiple installation jobs with General Contractors that are building restaurants to meet critical customer and construction deadlines and work with fire marshal's offices to perform final inspection of our work.
  • Assist in directing our technicians on a day-to-day basis to perform installation jobs according to the scope of work for each job and within established deadlines to complete.
  • Assist in accounting for the total job material costs, hours on the job and proper billing to our customers to ensure we are meeting profit goals per job.
  • Work with Permit expeditor to ensure required permits are obtained in a timely fashion
  • Keep excellent records of all work performed and seek additional funds to cover change orders to the scope of work as determined while performing the installation.
  • Communicate with customers, investigate and resolve issues with management and staff to ensure that customer concerns are immediately addressed.
  • Be extremely organized and very detailed in your work.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with multiple departments and personnel from each department and be a team player.
  • Perform administrative department functions and work closely with our billing department.
  • Must communicate very well with co-workers and customers.


  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or construction related field preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and customer service skills a must!
  • Prior experience in a commercial services company preferred, but not required.
  • Proven ability to oversee an essential business function and meet goals/deadlines.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Must be very analytical and have excellent problem solving skills.
  • Must enjoy talking to customers and have a successful history of developing relationships with customers.
  • Must be goal oriented and highly motivated to meet department objectives.
  • Office Managers and other office personnel with project management experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Self-Starter with great organization skills, especially time management skills.
