Organization Description: Grow Pittsburgh is an urban agriculture non-profit. Our mission is to teach people how to grow food and promote the benefits gardens bring to our neighborhoods.

Overview: Grow Pittsburgh is seeking a Farmstand and Seedling Sales Coordinator for Braddock Farms & Garden Dreams for the 2022 season to assist with seedling production, annual plant sale, Braddock Farm Store and Wilkinsburg Farmers Market.
Timeline: This is a 9-month long position starting the week of March 9, 2022 and ending on Nov 19, 2022.
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
- Seedling Season: March -9 May 14: 32 hours/ week, Wednesday-Friday 11am-7pm, Saturday 9am-5pm.
- Farm Stand Season: May 18- October 29: 32 hours/ week, Wednesday-Friday 11am-7pm, Saturday 7am-3pm
- Late Farm Stand Season: November hours: 16 hours/ week. Friday and Saturday only.
Compensation: $17/hour, paid sick time, mileage reimbursement, and membership with the Garden Resource Center.
March 9 - May 14 - Seedling Sale at Garden Dreams
May 18-Nov 19 - Farm stands at Braddock (three days a week) and Wilkinsburg
This position is responsible for retail seedling sales at Garden Dreams, which includes keeping detailed records of sale inventory, outreach, and in person sales.This position is responsible for helping implement Integrated Pest Management strategies and apply OMRI certified products to control pests and diseases according to organic standards. This position will be responsible for assisting with seeding, up potting, watering, hardening off, transporting seedlings, preparing plants for sale, restocking sales.
During farm stand season, this position will run the farm stand at Braddock three days a week and Wilkinsburg Farmers Market one day a week. Tasks include harvesting, keeping record of harvest weights, sales including customer interaction, stocking store and setting up market stand, keeping farm store clean & organized, and delivering produce to Shiloh and Homewood farm stands. This position will also work directly with our Youth Internship Program participants.
Requirements: Applicants should have a strong interest in sustainable and organic agriculture, vegetable gardening and urban farming. Customer service experience with some growing experience is recommended. Experience working at a farmers market or farm stand is preferred. Those interested should be self-motivated, punctual and should enjoy working with people. They should also possess a strong work ethic, ability to work in all weather conditions, be detail-oriented and work efficiently. Candidates must be able to work weekends and special events. Having a valid driver’s license is a must. Having personal transportation to work sites is preferred. Must be comfortable driving Grow Pittsburgh company vehicles. It is required to have your Act 33, Act 34 and federal background clearances to be employed at our organization, Grow Pittsburgh can help with obtaining clearances. Full vaccination for COVID-19 (including boosters) is strongly recommended
