Technical Editor Job Description:
Researches, edits and writes technical and/or non-technical documents or sections of documents prepared by writers to include, but not limited to: manuals, procedures and specifications to support Navy Surface Ship SONAR maintenance and operation. Duties may include ensuring documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style. Content will support specialized military equipment, integrated systems and software, ideal candidate can write and communicate clearly and effectively to deliver technical content to a wide range of audiences.
Technical Editor Responsibilities:
· Work under supervision of the Tech Doc Manager, SMEs and OEM Engineers to support the creation of technical data and documentation supporting systems operation and maintenance, and logistics functions.
· Provide creation of templates for standardizing content presentation and be able to describe complex and technical topics in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
Technical Editor Required Skills:
· Ability to write technical and non-technical content that supports the operation and/or maintenance of IT related equipment
· Ability to learn system hardware and software changes using engineering documentation and notes, working with software and hardware engineers and working systems in a lab/production bay environment.
· Excellent written communication and grammatical skills
· Excellent organizational skills.
Technical Editor Desired Skills:
· Ability to work directly with engineers and other technical SMEs
Technical Editor Additional Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or computer science or demonstrated equivalent experience.
· Must have a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
· Proactive/self-starter. Task driven with ability to work independently.
· Team player that takes ownership and develops relationships that fosters team success.
Job Location: Chesapeake, VA (Relocation Assistance Available)
Contract Terms: Full-Time Employee, 40 hours/week
