Controller

We are looking for a detail-oriented controller to perform and coordinate accounting duties within our organization. The controller's responsibilities include performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, updating cash flow model weekly, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.

What does a Controller do?

Reporting to the CEO, you will manage all aspects of accounting for the company. The ideal candidate will be achievement-oriented and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment in an essential, hands-on role that ensures the accounting function is rock solid. You will assume responsibility for the day-to-day accounting and month-end close process. You will identify and establish proper controls and drive operational and systematic improvements across the function. These may include automation, continuous process improvement, and creating tools that provide better financial vision for the Executive Team and the Board.

What are a Controller's Responsibilities?
  • Oversees all financial functions including invoicing, A/P, G/L, and Revenue Recognition for multiple locations.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with GAAP and Company's internal control procedures and practices.
  • Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Responsible for all financial activities including specified entries/requirements for monthly close out process; including but not limited to accruals, revenue/expense analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Ensures timely submission, accuracy, and validity of financial data to management.
  • Must work across organizational boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve company objectives by analyzing financial and operational reports to pinpoint problem areas and to help guide senior management's decision-making.
  • Monitors and analyzes Company and departmental operating results budget.
  • Support and is responsible for the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Be able to drive, recommend and coordinate changes in automated financial and management information systems.
  • Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

What are we looking for?
  • A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in an Accounting or Finance discipline. An MBA and/or CPA is ideal.
  • Experience with accounting software is required and experience playing a key role with a software system implementation would be considered a strong advantage.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, knowledge of automated financial and reporting systems, Microsoft Office products, and other tools commonly used by accounting and finance teams.

Work is generally performed in an office environment, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Frequent reaching, sitting, walking, and standing may be required. Occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend work may be required.
