GNY is conducting a search for an experienced and highly qualified Network and System Administrator who will be responsible for delivering high quality, reliable IT infrastructure Network, server and systems service operations to the company. This position is operationally responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, security, operations and recovery for all IT systems and infrastructure that support a growing mid-market company.
As a member of the IT Infrastructure team, and reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the Network and Systems Administrator is to manage, monitor, maintain, troubleshoot and recover the servers, systems and all their components along with the LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, and network segments at GNY. This position also requires the Network and Systems administrator to assist with server and application maintenance, updates, and streamlining along with providing Tier Two (2) Help Desk support.
Accountable for a maintaining a high-performing computing infrastructure companywide. This includes, but is not limited to computer operations and production support, systems and database administration, release management, business continuity, network operations, telecom, cloud services, help desk, and field support.
Serve as part of a high performing infrastructure engineering and operations team to ensure the reliable delivery of IT services and operations.
Establish, maintain and execute operations and casualty procedures that leverage efficiencies and best practices.
Perform service management activities including change and release management, testing, quality assurance and end-to-end technical integration.
Oversee cybersecurity processes and protections on all IT infrastructure resources according to policies and standards established by the information security function/CISO.
Monitor and maintain controls and performance monitoring procedures to ensure availability of critical systems, and minimal service interruptions.
Responsible for measuring and optimizing application and infrastructure performance, and to report, initiate and lead recovery actions after system failures.
Maintains Infrastructure equipment inventory and manages hardware life-cycle.
Perform system operations and services checks daily and upon startup and restarts of systems services.
Maintain and test disaster recovery plans.
Maintain and recommend changes to corporate IT infrastructure standards in regards to configuration and security.
Performs analysis of IT infrastructure needs and contributes to design of data center architecture, across five branch offices with remote field employees as well.
Drive or assist the team in troubleshooting Infrastructure and application issues.
Responsible for the implementation and execution of cyber security best practices.
Operate and maintain standards, procedures and guidelines to promote the security and uninterrupted operation of computer-based application systems at GNY.
Coordinate contingency plan tests on a regular basis.
Monitors and maintains infrastructure stability.
Prepares and maintains documentation of IT Infrastructure.
Carry a laptop home every night as part of DR and Continuity of Operations plans and also to provide after hours and weekend support when required to support systems operations and maintenance.
ITIL Foundations: ITIL Foundations v3 or higher. Current certification or will become certified within 6 months of hire.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Current certification or will become certified within 6 months of hire.
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA). Current certification or will become certified within 6 months of hire. Current certification or will become certified within 6 months of hire.
Undergraduate degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge and experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in network, server, and systems administration positions with an emphasis on infrastructure services.
Substantial experience operating, maintaining, and controlling a complex, highly technical operation or organization.
Experience migrating IT infrastructure into a cloud environment.
A track record of working collaboratively and productively with technology and business partners.
Knowledge of the Property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry is nice to have but not required.
