Job Description: Title: Chief Financial Officer FLSA Category: Exempt Reports To: Chief Executive Officer Date Issued: August 2019 Revised: August 2021 Job Summary: The Chief Financial Officer(CFO) is an executive leader critical to the success of Greater Baden Medical Services (Greater Baden), its mission and strategic priorities. The CFO reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), leads all accounting, finance, audit and revenue cycle activities and works collaboratively with the executive leadership team in support of Greater Baden goals. The CFO is responsible for providing accurate financial statements, complying with federal, state, local and other appropriate regulations. Responsible for preparation of monthly financial statements for dissemination to the board of directors, executive team and other management team members. Participates in strategy development, planning, organizing, directing, evaluating and communicating fiscal, accounting, financial and revenue cycle operations of Greater Baden. The CFO works closely with the CEO, executive leadership team and Greater Baden leaders to support increase in access to care through performance improvement of internal operations and participation in the identification and securing of additional access points and/or new services for medical, dental and behavioral health services. The CFO analyzes and supports development of growth opportunities based on sound financial criteria. The CFO is a seasoned, culturally competent, financial leader with excellent communication skills required to interact with diverse audiences. These audiences include but are not limited to internal leaders and departments, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, grant funders, financial institutions, auditors, payors and other stakeholders. The CFO is accountable for working collaboratively with CEO, CMO, COO, CAO, management team, providers and support staff. The CFO works collaboratively with executive team to increase access to care through performance improvement of internal operations and by participating in the identification and securing of additional access points and/or new services for ambulatory, behavioral and dental services. The CFO proposes and/or support growth opportunities based on sound financial criteria. This position serves as a key contributor on the executive team and may represent the Chief Executive Officer on committees or at meetings as assigned. Essential Functions:Develops, organizes, directs and evaluates the organization’s fiscal function and performance.Serves as senior executive responsible for accounting, finance, audit and revenue cycle operations.Oversees fiscal operations of the healthcare system; managing multiple revenue and payor streams and balances the Greater Baden mission with clinical, financial and growth goals.Participates in planning, including long-range strategic and business plans as a member of the Executive Team.Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO/President, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities. Prepares and submits the monthly financial statements to Finance Committee, Board of Directors and management team(s). Provides technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.Leads the annual budget budget preparation and adherence process, and prepares budgets for grant submissions to various funding sources. Continually improves the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting departmental budgets. Provides strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization; i.e., evaluation of potential alliances acquisitions and/or mergers and pension funds and investments.Optimizes the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on oppo1tunities (where possible) of individuals.Oversees the bidding and negotiation for supplies/equipment with budgetary approvals.Responsible for overall management of billing/claims procedures, including direct and third party billing. Nonessential Functions:Assists the CEO as required with special projects and liaison activities with other community organizations and agencies. May represent the agency's interests in the absence of the CEO.Participates in planning, including long-range strategic and business plans by membership on the Executive Team.Assists the CEO and Board with preparation of legal documents and business plans as needed.Participates in team/staff meetings; attends in-service meetings, and applicable workshops.Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical and Mental Demands:Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.Ability to cope with stress.Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.The person in this position frequently communicates with patients and/or employees.
