Job Summary
The Technology Support Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director of Information Technology in system management related to the enterprise computer systems.Basic responsibility lies in supporting end-users, responding to help desk calls.
Role and Responsibilities
- Work in harmony with employees of the hospital
- Manage and respond to requests from employees on matters pertaining to the ongoing operation of all technology equipment (Help Desk)
- Communicate all major network faults to staff
- Assist with network and other IT hardware and software faults
- Maintain printers and other accessories to a high level
- Maintain an up-to-date database for the IT equipment and software
- Communicate all major network faults to staff
- Maintain the documentation and backup rotation on CPSI Unix servers
- Maintain the documentation and backup rotation of the Windows based servers
- Other duties as prescribed by the Chief Information Officer
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Preferred Skills
- Two or more years of office network experience required.
- Very good analytical and trouble-shooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others, very good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Very good knowledge of network systems, Microsoft Office Software, TCP/IP, and LAN/Wan connectivity.
- Experience working Evident, Cisco and Microsoft Active Directory a plus.
Work Conditions
- On-call availability.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
- Occasional inspection of cables in floors (stooping/crouching) and ceilings (use of ladders).
- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects >50lbs, such as computers and peripherals.
Physical Requirements: The physical activities involve balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, and use of fingers and repetitive movements. An individual in this position may be required to carry or lift weight of up to 50 lbs. and push/pull 100-150 lbs. The sensory and communicative activities required for this position include feeling, hearing, seeing, smelling, and speaking. Individuals in this position could possibly be exposed to inside/outside environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens and body fluids, chemical hazards, respiratory hazards and radiological hazards.
Safety: Incumbent must be attentive at all times to their own personal safety, as well as the safety of patients, their families, visitors and employees of Drew Memorial Hospital. Hazardous and/or potentially hazardous conditions are to be immediately reported to a member of management. In accordance with Act 593, this position is considered a “Safety Sensitive Position,” as it requires the incumbent to work with confidential information or documents that may pertain to criminal investigations. Working with hazardous or flammable materials, controlled substances, food, or medicine.
