Process Engineering Manager / Process Manager / Extrusion

The Process Manager is responsible for setting up and operating automatic or semi-automatic machines or manual production using related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation.

Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications.

Principal Responsibilities

• Collaborate with personnel on troubleshooting, problem solving, and improvement projects related to the extrusion process and associated sub-processes;

• Analyze our operations and identify opportunities for improvement in terms of productivity, quality, scrap reduction, safety, etc.

Lead such identified improvement opportunities;

• Contribute to documenting the equipment performance, the materials evolution, the production processes and the experimental data for corporate learnings preservation;

• Contribute to defining tooling specs for new products or enhanced current product performance. Participate in validating this equipment upon commissioning.

• Evaluate the new developments and offerings in terms of extrusion and downstream equipment, tooling and make recommendations for future purchases/upgrades with the optics of standardizing our fleet while benefiting of the most advantageous offering.

• Assist in mapping production processes, analyze these processes for optimization and improvement opportunities, standardize these processes to the best practices.

• Collaborate in reviewing, developing and/or adapting training material related to the extrusion process and associated sub-processes.

• Participate in Innovation projects (new products) as process specialist at the facility. Fully lead the plant new product trials, managing people, tracking material and resources & completing trial reports.

• Manage Setup department team and tooling. Overseeing overall performance of team members optimizing plant performance in tooling setup, managing line settings parameters collections, maintain up to date process parameter sheets and ongoing continuous improvement. Focus on overall scrap reduction and maximizing regrind usage.

• Analyse production progress to optimize OEE (overall equipment effectiveness). Present ongoing initiatives, training and presentation for OEE improvements; optimizing availability of machine, reducing unscheduled downtime, performance optimize run rate toward target levels, reducing scrap.
