Special Events and Promotions Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervise and evaluate special events staff. Reports to the Director of Resort Marketing.
  • Design and execute all casino special events while maintaining the highest level of guest service standards for guests and team members.
  • Create an inviting socialized experience for all guests in the area by encouraging the gaming public to participate in all casino related drawings and promotions.
  • Brainstorming and implementing event plans and concepts.
  • Liaising and negotiating with vendors
  • Negotiating sponsorship deals for large scale events
  • Handling event logistics
  • Reporting to senior management on event performance
  • Obtaining proper permits and approvals for events
  • Post event reporting to management
  • Emcee all casino or property wide events and promotions.
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, giving directions, signing up new Club Grand members, supporting marketing initiatives and solicit interest and sign-ups for casino events.
  • Entertain customers during their play by creating a festive and upbeat environment. To engage customers through appropriate interaction and nurture extended time in play.
  • Observe gaming activity and relay security concerns to appropriate personnel. Provide support to the VIP Lounge when requested.
  • Using a computer, perform event management, as well as score tournaments and complete reports.
  • Help set-up and run all Casino events and special promotions within department.
  • Relay accurate information to guests regarding hours of operation, Hotel services, directions to local attractions or function rooms, car rentals, airline shuttle service, etc.
  • Move throughout the casino floor at a speed sufficient to satisfy customer needs.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules that reflect the business needs of the property.
QUALIFICATIONS
Casino/Hotel experience is required. 3+ years prior experience coordinating large special events. Proven track record of generating revenue from events. Superior time management skills, multi-tasking abilities, team playing skills. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a track record of performing each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Budget management and negotiation skills. Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality. Must be proficient in MS Office, be a critical thinker and problem solver. Ability to obtain/renew all government required licenses or certification.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Hospitality, PR, Communications, Journalism or relevant field is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and employees at all levels of the company. Must possess a strong attention to detail. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, customers, and general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to create and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions through decisive judgment. Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Other Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Champion of Customer Service and building positive team spirit. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekend hours and overtime as business needs dictate.
