Job Description

The Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Financial Analyst Senior. This position will be responsible for electric and water rates and analysis as described in detail below.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for all of GRDA’s rates: 
o Maintenance of rates for electric service that align with GRDA’s cost of services
o Monthly calculation of the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) rate to ensure fuel and purchased power costs are recovered
o Calculation and submission of transmission rates to Southwest Power Pool (SPP)
o Calculation of the amounts due according to third party agreements 
o Maintenance of raw water rates
o Review and reporting of SPP market activity, including the energy market and the transmission market.
o Calculation of all other miscellaneous rates
• Coordinating and scheduling work with consultants as necessary for Cost of Service and Rate Studies as directed by GRDA Executive Team.
• Coordinate with the GRDA legal department and external relation department regarding the language of GRDA rate schedules.
• Coordinating with Finance to provide the rates and information necessary for Finance to send invoices to the customers.
• Coordinate with Finance for the access and recording of financial and statistical data necessary for rate work.
• Coordinate with the Budget group to provide the fuel and revenue budgets and forecasts: 
      o The projected MWH loads for GRDA by customer class
      o The projected Operating, PCA, and Other revenues for the budget
      o The projected fuel prices
      o The expected loads and associated fuel costs for calculating out the estimated PCA and fuel costs.
• Analysis includes, but is not limited to, the taxable and non-taxable use of GRDA’s sales. 
• Ad hoc analysis and reporting, as needed

Requirements and Essential Skills:
• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field is required
• Minimum of five years of rates experience required
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel 
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with outstanding customer service techniques
• Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) required
• Experience with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Title 18 Chart of Accounts preferred
