OVERVIEW

The Communications Director is responsible for developing and overseeing the communications strategy, as well as leading the communications and digital ministry at Grace. S/he will play a critical role in creating and maintaining Grace's online presence, and sharing what God is doing through and at Grace Community Church. The Communications Director will also work closely with Grace's leadership in creating and executing an internal communications strategy.

You have had experience working in a multicultural context and bring a unique perspective to the body and staff. You can see the opportunity that this current pandemic has presented for a more robust and creative digital and online church experience and are excited about this challenge. You are able to think strategically and see the big picture and can bring different teams and people together. You have a heart for reaching more people with the gospel and are excited about being on the front lines of Grace's mission - creating disciples who make disciples. You are someone who enjoys helping and seeing projects through to the end. You take the initiative and solve problems when you see them, even without being asked. You like to learn and grow - whether in different skills, technologies, or concepts.

Most importantly, you believe the gospel is the most important message ever, so the task of inspiring people with stories of Grace from God is exciting, life-giving and precious. While you could work anywhere, using your gifts for God's Kingdom gives you more joy and fulfillment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads the Communication Team (staff and volunteers) with vision and care in support of the church's mission
  • Develops and executes the strategy for communicating to Grace members, wider body, and broader community
    • Oversees Grace's graphic design and content production, using various media to engage the body, tell stories, and communicate the gospel.
    • Oversees Grace's print pieces: brochures, promotional materials, letters, etc.
    • Oversees Grace's digital presence - including Grace's website, mobile app, and social media platforms - to engage our existing body as well as grow Grace's following/online body.
    • Establishes and maintains Grace's branding & style guide
    • Research and explore new platforms/technologies for communicating to the church
  • Supervise ministry-specific marketing plans/promotions along with the systems and processes to effectively execute those plans collaboratively
  • Ensure that all communications come from a consistent "voice"
  • Works closely with the Sunday Worship Team to:
    • Recruit and develop a "host team" that will engage Sunday morning gatherings (in-person and virtual) with information about next steps and upcoming opportunities
    • Identify and tell stories that support Grace's mission

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in communications, marketing, or related field; 5-7 years of experience in communications / marketing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail across all media (written, graphic, film, etc.)
  • Well-versed in the main digital/social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram (organic & paid outreach experience preferred)
  • A strong understanding in website best practices and experience managing a website / proficient in WordPress


SCHEDULE

  • 1x Per Week - Meet with Supervisor
  • 1x Per Week - Attend the weekly All Staff Meetings Tuesday mornings
  • 1x Per Year - Participate in the All-Staff Retreat, typically in August
  • Christmas Eve + Easter Sunday Gatherings
  • As Needed - Initiate / attend project specific meetings

  • Manages the Comms/Marketing Team: Design & Media Specialist, Marketing Coordinator
  • Works Closely with all ministries at Grace
