Kids Minister
- Expired: over a month ago. Applications are no longer accepted.
Grace City Church is a young church in Jackson, Mississippi striving to love our neighbors and love God in a way that brings the heart of the Kingdom into a beautifully broken city. You may have heard or read about Jackson's issues with prejudice, crime and an awful water system. The truth is that beneath the surface lies a beautiful community desperate for the hope and healing that only Jesus offers. We are committed to this city, our community and God's movement in the lives of our neighbors and one another.
Over the past 18 months, we have seen a healthy transition in leadership as the world around us recovers from a pandemic and learns to live and engage with one another in our new post-COVID reality. The church is full of genuine people who welcome the outsider and love one another. We could not be more excited about the future of our church and the challenges we face in becoming the people God has called us to be.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking to hire a full-time Children’s Minister to continue building on a strong foundation laid by the amazing previous leader and bring fresh ideas, energy and commitment to this critical ministry at Grace City. The ministry has done a great job over the past 5 years of being a place where kids and families from all over the city can find belonging and the relationships and teaching necessary to find and build a strong faith in Christ.
We reach families and kids from every pocket of the Metro Jackson area, and have a strong desire to improve our reach with the students who live closest to our church. We are located next to Boyd Elementary School with over 500 students, and we share a building with a charter school that educates 200 more elementary students every day. Proximity isn't the issue!
This is a full-time position that comes with a generous salary + benefits package.
THE RIGHT FIT
We are looking for a candidate with experience (at least 2 years), education, and high character. We value relational gifts and the commitment of our staff to be present in the lives of our church members and in the community.
Finally, it is imperative that our next Children’s Minister be someone who shares our church's desire for our congregation to better reach and reflect the community around us. Plainly stated, we're a predominantly white church in a mostly black neighborhood. We are committed to becoming more diverse and recognize the decisions and steps it will take for us to get there.
NEXT STEPS
Check out our website (gcjxn.org) and the job description below. Peruse our social media. Listen to a few sermons on our podcast or YouTube. Research Jackson and the community we sit in. If you feel like you'd be a good fit for our church and this unique opportunity, send your resume with a brief bio and any media links you might have to our Executive Pastor, Matt Briggs - mbriggs@gracecityjackson.org.
