Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain client communication on a regular basis
- Gather and analyze intake information, as well as relevant documents associated with new files and enter pertinent information into case management software
- Initiate claims, verify coverage and maintain communication with insurance adjusters to provide case status updates
- Maintain a checklist of standard tasks and reminders associated with cases assigned to you, through our case management software
- Coordinates investigation of defendant’s insurance coverage
- Input and maintain health insurance liens
- Prepare documents and correspondence such as letters of representation, demand letters, billing inquiries, etc
- Assist clients in coordinating medical care for injuries associated with their case
- Input and track all expenses associated with client files by utilizing case management software
- Collect documentation of all damages sustained such as medical records, bills and loss of wages
- Review and interpret medical records and reports
- Draft settlement demands for attorney review
- Update case details regarding demands, settlements and closings on a regular basis by utilizing case management software
- Answer and help prepare discovery, including requests to produce and interrogatories
- Obtain and maintain necessary information for each file that includes calls to clients and follow-up to ensure sure that the documents are provided
- File complaints, motions, voluntary dismissals and necessary litigation documents
- Prepare necessary documents for hearings, e.g., motion to compel hearings
- Prepare motions, pleadings and other documents
- Prepare mediation and trial binders
- Prepare closings upon settlement and coordinate the signing of the closing and attend closings
- Draft correspondence
- Contact insurance adjuster
- Trial and mediation preparation
Requirements:
- 3+ years as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Positive attitude
- Proficiency with office software, including: Word and Outlook
