MISSION CONTRIBUTION To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of the retail store through donor and customer relations, processing donated goods and quality control in order to maximize profitability that will fund and prosper our employment and training operations. JOB SUMMARY Oversight and operation of the Oakland outlet store, salvage, transportation and recycling department. Duties include the improvement and development of the Oakland retail outlet, management of the salvage, transportation and recycling operation, which includes material handling and recycling/environmental training. Works with all departments in GIGEB to ensure waste reduction for Goodwill. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Plant Operations: · Transportation: Ensure compliance of all DOT, FMSCA and OSHA regulations in accordance with local, state and federal regulations; ensures scheduled preventative maintenance is conducted on all fleet commercial vehicles and forklifts assigned to Donated Goods; schedules salvage pick-ups from our GIGEB locations. · Training: Instructs employees and participants concerning safety expectations and requirements for workplace, e.g., cleanliness, organization of production area; trains employees and participants in transportation, salvage and recycling Standard Operating Procedures; hires, trains and provides performance feedback for assigned employees. · Post Retail: Ensures processing occurs most efficiently, working with program participants and associates to ensure materials are properly sorted, wastes are minimized and maximum diversion occurs; regularly analyzes work flow processes and recommends process improvements; identifies and documents opportunities to improve systems efficiencies, reduce costs or otherwise streamline existing processes to ensure rapid and efficient operations. · Scheduling: Prepares work instructions and assignments for drivers, participants and employees; ensures vendor pick-ups are loaded correctly and in a timely manner, load salvage orders utilizing forklift and other approved methods; ensures all paperwork associated with each respective load is completed accurately and submitted on time, e.g., Pick Up Slip, Load Log. · E-Waste: coordinates full compliance to e-waste programs; trains others to process e-waste according to Standard Operating Procedures; maintains required records/data on e-waste donations and processing. · Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management. Financial: · Effectively and efficiently manage the plant budget including labor budget, achieving processing goals, generating revenue and controlling expenses. · Ensure that all expense reports are accurate and submitted in a timely fashion. Safety/Loss Prevention: · Ensure that store and surrounding premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards, and that safety procedures are understood and followed by all employees. · Ensure that Loss Prevention matters are reported in a timely manner. Human Resources: · Interview, hire, train, and direct the activities of all plant drivers, dispatchers, dock workers and plant personnel to provide an efficient and effective work force. · Ensure all Workers Compensation reports are completed and reported within appropriate time frame · Maintain positive morale of work force. · Ensure that performance evaluations are conducted in a timely manner. · Process employee status change actions accurately and in a timely manner. · Ensure proper adherence by Drivers, dispatchers, dock workers and plant personnel to policies and procedures. · Utilize intervention recommendations by Human Resources (HR), to effectively maintain personnel discipline. · Ensure compliance with all policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations. Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. 3. Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition. 4. Participate in any variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies. CRITICAL PERFORMANCE FACTORS · Sales Growth · Labor Cost /Productivity · Labor vs. Sales · Production · Attendance / Turnover · On-time pickup and delivery · Damages. · Fuel efficiency · Maintenance KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES · Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required: Associates degree or equivalent experience. · BA of BS degree in Business, Transportation & Logistics, or Retail Management preferred. · Minimum experience desired: Three (3) years of Warehousing, transportation, logistics with at least one (1) year of managerial experience. · Prior profit and loss, sales or cost management accountability preferred. · One or more years of administrative or comparable experience. · Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to facilitate meetings and train staff. · Proficiency in Spanish is a plus. · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. · Must possess strong interpersonal skills through command of the English language in order to work with customers and employees. · Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics. · Operate a desktop or laptop computer and navigate the system using a browser. · Work independently and as part of a team. · Maintain accurate and legally compliant records · Handle sensitive information in a confidential and discreet manner. · Handle multiple priorities and give work direction to others. · Understand and interpret financial reports. · Work with and provide direction to individuals with diverse backgrounds including but not limited to the following areas: age, race, gender, ethnic origin, physical and mental abilities, skill level, socio-economic background and previous employment experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTThe position involves physical work requiring lifting up to 50 lbs. with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10lbs.Large or heavy items are moved by using appropriate material handling equipment and/or with assistance from co-worker.Safety handling procedures must be followed.Standing, Walking, Lifting, Carrying, Kneeling, Pushing/Pulling, Bending/ Stooping, Reaching, Turning, Repetitive Motions WORK CONDITIONS / HAZARDS: · Limited hazards due to lifting, pulling, and pushing merchandise by self or others. · Requires a high level of adaptability and flexibility. · Work environments are usually hectic (fast paced) with frequent short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations. · Field of work includes office, production area, and store sales floor and surrounding grounds. · Retail Store Managers are subject to transfer to other locations within the agency system, according to company needs.
