Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, assists in the administration of various employee benefit plans such as life, health, dental, and disability insurances, retirement plans, leave of absence, and unemployment. Major duties include: reconciling benefit invoices, processing leave of absences, unemployment claims, and retirement forms. In collaboration with insurance vendors, process enrollment information and participate in benefit and wellness education initiatives along with communicating on a daily basis with Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, Inc. staff about anything benefits related.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
+ Reconcile monthly insurance invoices.
+ Process leave of absence, maintains up-to-date leave files and provides leave reports.
+ Maintain employee benefit files and other record keeping.
+ Enroll new employees in benefit plans and coordinate benefits orientation with our vendor.
+ Process retirement documentation and participate in retirement education initiatives.
+ Provides benefit materials and presents benefit plan changes to employees as necessary.
+ Communicate and coordinate benefit changes to the appropriate vendor for processing.
+ Maintain vendor contacts to investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations.
+ Provide vendors appropriate documentation for life, retirement, and disability benefits claims.
+ Respond to notifications from the appropriate state agency regarding unemployment claims filed by former employees.
+ Issue individual summary of benefits to employees.
+ Processes requests for census information and provides benefit reports.
+ Distribute required notices regarding benefits or health care.
+ Coordinate and collaborate in wellness activities and benefit education initiatives.
+ Participate in HR Wrap Ups and benefit webinars when scheduled.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
+ Provide support as needed to the receptionist in operating the telephone system in an efficient, courteous and professional manner in accordance with the Organization?s standards.
+ Through continuous education, be current on benefit trends through reading, research, networking and attending approved benefits training.
+ Be a benefits subject matter expert.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

+ Ability to adhere to the organization?s Core Principles.
+ Knowledge of a variety of employee benefits plans.
+ Knowledge of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
+ Knowledge of basic Human Resources policies and procedures.
+ Knowledge of basic office practices and procedures.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality of departmental information.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Knowledge of appropriate software and the ability to produce grammatically correct and error free work.
Education and/or Experience
High School education or equivalent is required. A minimum of one (3) years? experience in Human Resources with an emphasis in Benefits or Payroll administration for external candidates. For internal job posting candidates, experience in Accounting or Safety/ Workers? Compensation or Training may be given consideration in lieu of human resources experience at management?s discretion.
License and Certifications
Valid Florida Driver?s License with an insurable driving record and current private auto insurance policy.
