Job Description: GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONThe Vice President of Education will be the Superintendent for The Excel Center network of adult charter high schools operating in Arkansas. The VP of Excel Centers will provide strategic direction to lead the development of service delivery standards and procedures for educational strategies for each Excel Center location. The position will work with Goodwill Arkansas Education Initiatives School Board, Goodwill Industries of Arkansas Executive Leadership, and the Arkansas Department of Education to ensure school goals, objectives, and desired outcomes are achieved. This position will be responsible for creating and executing legislative strategy to ensure long term sustainability of school operations.This position will frequently analyze and predict trends of the local market and develops long-range plans designed to increase graduation rates, industry recognized credentials completed, and career readiness of the student population. Position will be strongly centered around training and development of staff to ensure all clients and students receive appropriate referral sources, career pathways, and college transition options. This position will support the Senior Vice President/Chief Mission Officer in creating quality training, processes, and outcomes, while ensuring alignment of services to promote collaboration across internal and external departments with regards to mission delivery and education services. Partners with GIA leadership to understand strategic business objectives and organizational culture in order to develop and execute strategies to meet current and future educational needs for adult students in Arkansas. This duty is performed weekly, about 15% of the time.2. Develop, implement, and execute the annual operating plan for the Goodwill Education Initiatives Arkansas network of schools - with clear and quantifiable objectives for each program that align to ADE standards. This duty is performed monthly, about 15% of the time.3. Represents Goodwill and the school district, as appropriate, in community planning and policy making activities. This duty is performed weekly, about 15% of the time.4. Drive student recruitment strategies that lead to maximum impact for the students we serve, their communities, and key stakeholders throughout the state. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.5. Develop, implement, provide oversight for annual budget for the school district. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.6. Provides leadership in the development of new partnerships and/or methodologies in response to the changing needs concerning student achievement and/or Arkansas State Educational Law, rules, and standards and ensures GAEI's compliance with state laws, regulations, and ADE reporting requirements. This duty is performed monthly, about 5% of the time.7. Ensure compliance with all agency policies, procedures and safety standards, laws and code of ethics throughout areas managed, maintain same to meet ADE, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.8. Attend conferences, outreach programs and meetings to promote Goodwill programs. Manage strategic partnerships with other key community partners and agencies. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.9. Develops career paths and training objectives for staff as well as evaluation recommendations. This duty is performed annually, about 2.5% of the time.10. Provides overall direction and management for strategy, guidelines and procedures concerning best practices, systems, and methodology as it applies to The Excel Center model. This duty is performed annually, about 2.5% of the time.11. Creates opportunities to increase efficiencies and effectiveness of tools and methodologies for talent acquisition. This duty is performed monthly, about 2.5% of the time.12. Identify, develop/procure, and deliver innovative professional development opportunities for certified and classified employees. This duty is performed monthly, about 2.5% of the time.13. Coordinate scope and sequences for curriculum alignment and ensures that curriculum, instructional materials, formative and summative assessments align with state academic standards. This duty is performed annually, about 2.5% of the time.14. Maintain updated district policies, handbooks, and procedures for continued compliance to ADE and GIA standards. This duty is performed annually, about 2.5% of the time.15. Attends and presents at GAEI Board Meetings/Prepares reports . This duty is performed monthly, about 2.5% of the time.16. Directly oversee the work of other GAEI central office personnel, holding regular meetings with building directors, coordinators, and other specialists in the school district. This duty is performed daily, about 2.5% of the time.17. Attend or delegate a representative to attend, all meetings of municipal agencies or governmental bodies at which matters pertaining to the schools appear. This duty is performed weekly, about 2.5% of the time.18. Other duties as assigned. This duty is performed as needed, about 2.5% of the time.19. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEGraduate degree (M.B.A., M.A., etc), plus 11 to 15 years related experience and/or training, and 11 to 15 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.COMMUNICATION SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and understand the most complex documents; ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints; ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style; ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane, algebra, solid geometry and trigonometry.CRITICAL THINKING SKILLSAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The total value for the above would range from $1,000,000 to $10,000,000.ACCURACYProbable errors would normally not be detected in succeeding operations and may have serious effects in relationships with patrons and/or with the operations of other segments of the organization.
