To ensure efficient and effective operations resulting in increased profit and mission fulfillment. To ensure the timely and effective delivery of operational projects and provides leadership to Goodwill Industries of South MS.
SPECIFIC DUTIES: *
Leads, directs, and coaches leadership teams and retail team to maximize sales per square foot, donor value, and profit for GSM.
Work with leadership teams to ensure that the collection, production, and internal distribution of donated products are properly integrated to achieve maximum profitability and leading to 100% customer delight.
Visits retail operations on a regular basis to review performance issues, labor issues, and provide technical advice.
Trains and coaches GSM leadership in conjunction with the HR and Learning and Development to meet Goodwill objectives and ensures that each manager works within a framework of both professional and personal growth.
Proactively resolves conflicts among collection, production, internal/external distribution, and sales processes of donated goods.
Works with Operations leadership to define and evaluate work processes, and to define projects that will lead to process improvements. Helps to ensure that work processes are aligned with strategic organizational objectives and integrated for maximum efficiency.
Assists in hiring, training, evaluating, and performance managing team members within the framework of Goodwill policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
Ensures the integrity of expense budgets for all applicable departments. Recommends operational improvements for efficient reporting and workflow design, and monitors performance by measuring and analyzing results.
Coordinates end user systems training with the Learning and Development Team and all functional areas to ensure smooth project implementation, improve technology utilization, and enhance digital literacy.
Demonstrates GSM Core Values in all actions. Ensures adherence to Guiding Principles across all donated goods operations.
Completes GSM reports as needed for each assignment.
Ensures cleanliness, orderliness and image of GSM and adherence to all safety, security, housekeeping procedures.
Approves donated goods purchase orders, work orders, petty cash, and expense reports in accordance with established budget and Goodwill practices.
Regularly reviews and analyzes POS reports, including readings, cash reports, daily, monthly and yearly activity reports, transmittal of reports, daily deposits, comment cards, team meeting minutes to assess trends, monitor progress on goals, and make recommendations for change.
Ensures that all appropriate CARF standards are maintained.
Keeps abreast of product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing through comparative shopping of competitors (i.e. full or discount retail, consignment, and second-hand thrift).
Originates, implements, and manages special donated goods projects and initiatives to improve efficiency, performance, mission delivery, quality of work, training curricula, and work conditions with the support of the VP of Operations.
Assist and support safety management efforts to lower accident incidence rates and insurance costs.
Supports the management of all Donated Goods Operations related operations as requested to maximize donor value and profit.
Supports the manager to ensure that team performs quality visits on a recurring basis covering loss prevention review, training, schedule review, image including proper attire, performance reviews, attendance, accommodation requests, supplies and equipment, and proper donor greeting procedure following Goodwill’s Guiding Principles.
Attends training as assigned.
May be asked to participate in activities outside of Goodwill.

Ability to conceptualize and make improvements at the systems and process level.

Ability to train people with disabilities and/or other vocational disadvantages.
Ability to build teams, train, motivate others, delegate job duties, and hold team members accountable for the completion of responsibilities.
Knowledge of donated goods post-retail market characteristics, operations project management techniques and tools.
Knowledge of vendor relationship management, finance, accounting, and information systems and work process analysis and design.
Understand and analyze financial statements, sales reports, and other reports required
Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and customer relationship management skills.
Strong consensus and positive culture builder.
Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
Sound independent judgment, problem solving, and makes data-based decisions effectively.
Bend, reach, and stand for extensive periods of time and lift up to twenty-five pounds. May be required to lift heavier goods/items with the assistance of another team member.
Training and Experience: *
Five years or more running a retail business with 25 or more employees.
Five or more year’s multi-location leadership and management experience.
