We are seeking a livestock manager to join our team and help us grow our production poultry and livestock operation. Candidate with either a degree in animal husbandry, livestock management, agricultural practices, or a minimum of 3 years experience working with livestock preferred. Applicant should be willing and able to work independently and on a diverse team, in all weather conditions (that sweet Texas heat!), and be open to flexible scheduling including some nights and weekends. Applicant should have the desire to live and work in a more agrarian, communal, organic environment and contribute to our collective growth.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Daily care and management of our current livestock, both pets (goats, ducks, ponies) and laying flock of 75 hens. This includes feeding, housing upkeep, egg collection, pony exercise, health care and more.
Plan for and implement the expansion of our production livestock program - continued education is encouraged and supported.
Work with grounds crew / carpentry team to plan and implement future animal housing and pasture projects.
Establish / maintain a working relationship with farm owners to keep in touch with the current and future vision for the domestic livestock.
Work with vegetable production team to incorporate livestock management into produce farming to build and maintain sustainable, closed-loop systems wherever possible.
Full time (45 hours/week expectation) salaried position that will require a flexible work schedule, including some nights and weekends. Health benefits offered.
