Job Responsibilities:

The Spiritual Care Coordinator is an integral part of the interdisciplinary pediatric palliative care team.  As a team member, the SCC will assess the spiritual needs of the client upon admission, provide on-going evaluation of the spiritual needs of the client/family and collaborate with local clergy and religious institutions in accordance with the on-going wishes and needs of the client/family, as appropriate.  The SCC will offer clients/families of all faiths the opportunity to discuss different philosophies and religious beliefs, and share their thoughts and values.  In coordination with other team members, the SCC will document, monitor and update care plans and interventions as needed, especially as they pertain to religious beliefs and the client’s/family’s response to care.    

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Pastoral care experience required 
  • Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education required
  • Medical or Hospice Social Work experience preferred
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Bilingual is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and knowledge of dying and bereavement issues are essential
  • Possess advanced and thorough clinical assessment and treatment skills required
  • Contribute as part of a collaborative team
