Development Assistant

The Goldwater Institute is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Development Coordinator. This position will support our expansion strategy and perform day-to-day reporting on fundraising efforts and outreach efforts. The successful candidate will be analytical in spirit and excited to assume ownership of assignments, as well as detail oriented and comfortable working with data-driven applications.

Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities

The Development Coordinator will work closely with our Development Team to ensure strategic plans for donor interactions are fulfilled. Specific responsibilities will include scheduling meetings with donors and prospective donors, background research on donors and reporting, data entry, facilitating bulk mailings and correspondence, and other projects as identified.

Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of a comprehensive social media campaign with tangible fundraising goals
  • Assist in the management of an annual direct mail campaign which results in both the renewal of current Institute donors and the recruitment of new donors
  • Support all Development events and fundraising opportunities
  • Schedule key donor meetings with Development Officers
  • Research and compile data regarding donor participation and parameters to revamp donor recognition.
  • Coordinate with policy, communications, and litigation staff to add value to their work and to increase the effectiveness of the development team
  • Attend Development & all staff meetings


· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

· Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies

· Experience with SalesForce, Raisers Edge or other fundraising database preferred

· Experience with development or non-profit institution preferred

· Experience assisting development officers with prospect management preferred

· Excellent communication skills both oral and written

· Knowledge of research techniques for fundraising prospect research preferred

· Experience with budget development and monitoring

· Ability to prioritize and multi-task

· Demonstrated commitment to the Goldwater Institute mission
