Job Description

General Position Summary:

The incumbent’s primary responsibility is to perform as a Driver for GWS Site Leads and Crews assigned to GWS at our client campuses in Hillsboro, Oregon.  In addition, the incumbent is responsible for all duties listed below.  He/She must have the ability to continuously prioritize various day to day job duties and to have the ability to make timely and accurate decisions. 

 

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:

·         Portland driver’s reports directly to the Portland Operations Supervisor via site Leads.

·         Perform pre / post safety inspections on vehicles used for daily moving operations.

·         Safely operate assigned vehicles, fill out proper paperwork for submission to Operations Supervisor on a daily basis.

·         Perform safe and timely site to site moves with crew sites.

·         Maintain building box stations with appropriate signage and allowable boxes.

·         Perform daily MT deliveries and RTS drop offs.

·         Complete dock sweeps for assigned locations.

·         Return all furniture to warehouses and mark appropriately as trained.

·         Keep warehouse, assigned building dock areas clean free of rubbish.

·         Must be physically present at the Company’s office, as regularly scheduled, to perform these essential function / duties.

·         Demonstrate initiative and sense of urgency in not only completing assigned work but being proactive in initiating creative thought to improve processes and solve problems.

·         Demonstrate on a daily basis the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and / or approaches to problems.

·         Promptly communicate any potential problems, incidences or occurrences effecting the daily operations and management of the department to your immediate supervisor.

·         Develop and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with management, co-workers, team members, contractors and customers with the Company’s best interests as a top priority.

·         Demonstrate a willingness to improve job related skills, be responsive to directions, accept constructive feedback and show flexibility and creativity in completing work assignments.

·         Adhere to all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and in any Departmental Manual.

·         Accept and perform additional job duties, assignments or projects as directed by your immediate supervisor or management for the betterment of the Company.

·         Ability to work under the pressures of time constraints in a fast paced work environment.

 

Education and/or Experience:

·         High school diploma or GED required.

·         Experience in related position and/or related industry preferred.

 

Job Conditions:

·         Demanding, fast-paced work environment.

·         Full-time position (40+ hrs/week) with work hours generally Monday through Friday with flexibility in work schedule for start and finish times as determined by supervisor as well as occasional overtime as necessary including nights and/or weekends.

·         Exert unassisted in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly  to move objects  by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment.

·         Ability to frequently lift and move heavier items with the assistance of other employees or lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes.

·         Extensive physical activity.  Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.

·         Ability to stand for extended periods of time and regularly bend, crawl, climb, and squat.

·         Frequent exposures to sunlight, dust and dirt, grease, exhaust and / or fuel fume odors.

·         Must be able to work in cramped or awkward positions.

·         Must be able to work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights  when needed.

·         Work environment maybe indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair trucks on the road.  Usually well-lighted and ventilated.  Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools.  These factors require following basic safety precautions.

·         Must possess and maintain UVL qualification at all times which requires, but is not limited to the following:

  • At least 20/40 acuity in each eye, with or without correction.
  • At least 70 degrees peripheral vision in horizontal meridian measured in each eye.
  • Must first perceive forced whispered voice greater than or equal to 5 feet, with or without hearing aid OR average hearing loss in better ear less than or equal to 40dB.
  • Maintain blood pressure less than or equal to140/90 with or without medication.

 

·         Inside average office environment with average noise levels.

·         Must possess and maintain a valid automobile driver’s license at all times

·         Heavy volume of phone calls.
