We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist for an available contract opportunity to provide services for the inmates incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Sheridan, Oregon.
Available Position(s): Phlebotomist
Work to be performed at: Services will be performed in the Health Services Department at the FCI located at 27072 Ballston Road Sheridan, OR 97378.
Facility Information: A medium security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp and a detention center.
Work Schedule: A session is defined as one hour. The contractor will normally provide up to eight (8) sessions (hours) per day, typically 5 days per week, not to exceed 40 hours per week, and excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution.
Period of Performance: 5 Year contract
Services include, but are not limited to, the items listed below:
The contractor will provide Phlebotomist services in a method commensurate with the local community. These services, although not directly supervised, will be reviewed by the Health Services Administrator and/or Clinical Director at the institution.
Properly identify patients using the Health Services 2-step method
Collect both venous and capillary blood specimens
Select the appropriate and accurate specimen container for the specified tests
Properly label, handle, and transport specimens following departmental policies
Sort specimens received and process specimens for shipment to various laboratories
Perform BEMR/COPIA computer operations and/or update log sheets where required
Perform point-of-care testing and quality control checks
Observe all infection control and safety regulations
Contractor must have a minimum of six months experience as a Phlebotomist. Contractor must have a valid Driver’s license. Contractor must have a valid certification to practice in the state of Oregon as a Medical Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist or verifiable work experience commensurate to this position. The Contractor must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
