Place of Performance: Treasure Island Job Corps Center located at 351 H Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94130
Facility Information: The Treasure Island Job Corps Center is a 532 student residential training facility located at 351 Avenue H, San Francisco CA 94130. Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 25 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training. The Center has classroom facilities, hands on trade education, a cafeteria, health services, recreational facilities, and dormitories. During the students’ enrollment (typically about 8 months), Job Corps assists students in attaining and maintaining optimal health by providing basic on-Center health services to include promotion, prevention, assessment, intervention, and follow-up care. In addition, Job Corps strives to educate students regarding the connection between maintaining a healthy lifestyle and being employable.
Work Schedule: The schedule is Part-time. Work will be performed during regular business hours, TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS, at times and days mutually agreed upon by the Dentist and the Center Director or designee. Services are required 50 weeks per year.
Contract Period: August 1, 2019 and the end date July 31, 2020
Basic Scope of Work (includes but it is not limited to): The Job Corps Center is required by the Department of Labor to provide basic medical and dental services to students. A. Provides preventive dental health education which will promote good oral hygiene and dental health improvement. B. Consults with Center Wellness staff, Counselors, Residential Advisors, Instructors and other appropriate staff concerning the ongoing dental health problems and needs of students C. Develops and/or assures compliance with infection control policies and procedures. D. Ensures the maintenance, confidentiality and safeguarding of all student dental records. E. Establishes priorities for providing comprehensive dental care, based upon diagnoses and within program constraints F. Takes and develops dental radiographs (x-rays) as directed by Center Dentist G. Monitors inventory levels and reorder dental supplies as needed. H. Performs office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, and billing). I. Performs quality assurance record audits. J. Participates in department system for student feedback or concerns. K. Maintains dental records. L. Maintains dental statistics for dental productivity and monthly utilization reports.
License: The Dental Assistant must have a State of license/certification. Education: Must have graduated from an accredited Dental Assistant school Experience: Previous experience in providing dental care for adolescents and young adults is desired. Previous practice in settings such as schools, colleges, institutions, military or correctional institutions is desired.
