Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington is looking for admin staff for our summer overnight camps who love the camp experience and are passionate about the Girl Scouts mission. In this role, you’ll help lead our camp staff and programs to teach girls new skills, keep them safe as they explore camp experiences, and ensure they have a session full of wonderful memories and camp magic.
As camp admin staff, you’ll live and work in rustic resident camp settings from June 10 through August 21. Shower and toilet facilities are separate from cabins and could include non-flush toilets and dormitory-style showers. Most of your time will be spent in the great outdoors doing fun activities with girls, such as hiking, archery, swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts – depending on your skills and interests.
Camp staff are paid a daily rate based on the position, applicable certifications, and previous experience in that role.
Assistant Camp Director: $100.83 to $110.83 per day ($604.98 to $664.98 per week)
- Responsible for running camp in the absence of the camp director.
- Responsible for supervising the health and food service programs and staff.
- Keep records of income and expenses at camp.
- Review standing orders and notify the camp director if there are any issues.
- Purchase supplies as necessary, within budget.
- Check incoming supplies against orders and invoices.
- Keep the camp director informed of health and safety issues.
- Ensure sanitation procedures for the kitchen, dining area, and health center are followed.
- Maintain files and documents, and reports, as required.
Program Coordinator: $87.50 to $97.50 per day ($525.00 to $585.00 per week)
- Supervise, support, and evaluate assigned unit staff and program specialists.
- Assist with camp, including living in the unit, housekeeping, and programs.
- Ensure quality program activities are planned with campers and delivered responsibly.
- Ensure all units and program areas run smoothly and safely, per GSUSA and GSOSW policies and procedures.
- Keep the team and camp director informed of site, unit, and/or program area issues.
- Serve as a resource for program skills and camp knowledge, including leading activities.
- Work with other senior staff in coordinating all site programs.
- Purchase supplies as necessary, within budget. Check incoming supplies against orders and invoices.
Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Coordinator: $80.00 to $90.00 per day ($480.00 to $540.00 per week)
- Organize CIT camp living unit, including housekeeping activities and program.
- Develop a training program that includes camping and leadership skills for becoming a staff member, based on the needs of participants.
- Work with unit staff to supervise and evaluate the leadership abilities of CITs during their unit/program area time.
- Evaluate girls' progress in the CIT program and make recommendations for each girl's future development.
- Responsible for the health and safety conditions of campers and staff in the unit.
- Serve as a resource for program skills.
- Guide activities and experiences in the unit through girl planning.
Wrangler-in-Training (WIT) Coordinator: $80.00 to $90.00 per day ($480.00 to $540.00 per week)
- Organize WIT camp living unit, including housekeeping activities and program.
- Develop a training program that includes horsemanship, camping, and leadership skills for becoming a staff member based on the needs of participants.
- Work with unit staff to supervise and evaluate the leadership abilities of WITs during their unit/program area time.
- Evaluate girls' progress in the WIT program and make recommendations for each girl's future development.
- Responsible for the health and safety conditions of staff and campers in the unit.
- Serve as a resource for program skills.
- Guide activities and experiences in the unit through girl planning.
- Teach horsemanship skills.
- Ensure the safety and health of horses used in the program, including care, feeding, and upkeep of barn areas.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- At least 21 years of age.
- At least one year in an organized camp setting or other equivalent work with children.
- Experience working with children, young adults, and adults.
- Interest, knowledge, skills, and passion in a variety of camp programs.
- Child and Adult First Aid/CPR and AED certification or higher.
- Food handlers Permit required by specific county and state.
- Aquatic, equestrian, or challenge certifications as necessary.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
- Walking and standing up to 80% of the time on flat or uneven terrain, indoors and outdoors.
- Sitting at and using a computer for extended periods.
- Stooping, squatting, and bending.
- Reaching overhead and below shoulder level.
- All camp staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to work at Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington camps this summer.

Locations: We are hiring for multiple roles at each of the three beautiful Camp properties.
- Camp Arrowhead, Stevenson, WA: Located at the base of Dog Mountain and Wind Mountain in the Columbia River Gorge, Camp Arrowhead has 260 acres of forest, meadows, trails, a pool, and a lake with varied terrain and dramatic views. Camp Arrowhead activities include hiking, white water rafting, kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, archery, and a swimming pool.
- Camp Cleawox, Florence, OR: Located on a wooded peninsula in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area by the Oregon coast, Camp Cleawox is surrounded by Lake Cleawox and the Honeyman Memorial State Park sand dunes, two miles south of Florence. This 47-acre site is situated on a freshwater lake near the beach. It features activities such as sandboarding, windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding, archery, low ropes course, canoeing, and swimming in the lake. Nearby are Oregon beaches, tidal pools, the Hobbit Trail, and sea lion caves.
- Camp Whispering Winds, Philomath, OR: This 220-acre camp is located in the lush hills of Kings Valley, northwest of Philomath and Corvallis, Oregon. The property has picturesque meadows, forests, a central lake, ponds, and a pool. Activities at camp Whispering Winds include canoeing, archery, mountain biking, low ropes course, and horse camp. In addition, rafting, tubing, and paddle-boarding activities are available nearby.
