Job Description

The Customer Relations Specialist is responsible for serving as the first point of contact for incoming customer inquiries via phone, email, web or in person and for providing exceptional customer service throughout all customer interactions. She/he records all inquiries within the membership database (Salesforce/Volunteer Systems) and is fluent in case management processes and guidelines.

The Customer Relations Specialist is also responsible for performing general administrative duties for the Council as directed.

This position is office-based with a 35 hour work week (Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm); may be required to work outside of normally scheduled hours occasionally.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two to five years of customer service experience in an office environment
  • Highly developed customer service skills with the ability to quickly hear and understand customer issues and problem-solve. Demonstrated customer responsiveness; identifies, prioritizes and balances customer issues, takes time to answer questions and explain answers; follows through on customer commitments in timely manner
  • Aptitude for, and interest in, customer service with a willingness to continuously develop these skills
  • Proficient in multi-tasking; able to smoothly interact with customers on the phone while simultaneously entering and updating data within Volunteer Systems
  • Proven oral and written communication abilities with an emphasis on active listening and customer service skills; able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of prospects, customers, volunteers and staff
  • Easy technology adopter, quick to learn new software and eager to embrace new applications such as Volunteer Systems/Salesforce; proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams) and Zoom
  • Salesforce experience preferred
  • Self-starter who can work independently and takes initiative; is flexible, adaptable, organized and has a strong attention to detail
  • Position is office-based; must be willing to work a flexible schedule, and may be occasionally required to work outside of normal business hours
  • Must subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of GSUSA.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regular and predictable attendance with long periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer. Ability to lift, bend and carry up to 25 pounds.
