For more than a century, and with the help of more than 8,000 volunteers, Girl Scouts San Diego (GSSD) has been instilling generations of girls in San Diego and Imperial Counties, with the skills and knowledge to become young women of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Grant Writer is responsible for researching, planning, developing and tracking grant proposals for foundations, private, government and other funding sources, that support and advance the mission of Girl Scouts. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES Research, identify and apply for grants that support Girl Scouts San Diego mission, programs and initiatives.

Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, private, government and corporate sources. Proactively cultivate and steward relationships with grant funders. Regularly identify and research new funding sources for programs and other GSSD initiatives.

Collaborate with department and program staff to explore funding opportunities, and gather information and data needed for writing high-quality, accurate and compelling proposals and reports for funders. Ensure timely submission of proposals and reports. Establish timelines that include the gathering of relevant data/information for proposal content, internal routing and approvals, and submission to funding sources.

Develop case statements and assist with writing appeals Represent GSSD at various organization or events, programs and meetings Carry out additional assignments as required to meet department or organization goals and objectives.
