Job Description
This is a Medical Scientist position within our Managed Care Government Accounts, Medical Affairs division supporting all therapeutic areas across the Gilead portfolio for the MidWest territory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Equivalent Experience

  • Understanding and knowledge of current US healthcare system, healthcare delivery, and biotechnology drug/devise development process required.
  • Knowledge of HEOR disciplines, and basic understanding of biostatistics and evidence-based medicine required (i.e. research methodology, developing clinical protocols, clinical reports, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required. Ability to develop and deliver high-quality presentations
  • Excellent project management, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a constantly changing environment in both an independent and collaborative manner.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and approach; ability to network and partner with internal and external stakeholders, including medical thought-leaders, academic institutions, large group practices, medical directors, and pharmacy directors, clinical payer leads, specialty pharmacy and other value based and population-based groups and decision makers.
  • Demonstrates a patient-centric and customer mindset and the ability to gain insights and identify customer needs and opportunities.
  • Demonstrates ability and knowledge to effectively communicate medical, scientific, health economic, and business information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook) is required.
  • Ability to travel within the US a minimum of 70% of the time, occasionally with short notice

Educational Background/Job-Related Experience
  • Education: Advanced scientific degree (MD, DO, PhD or PharmD strongly preferred) with experience in the pharmaceutical or related healthcare field required. PhD or additional degree in health economics, health outcomes, public health or health policy is a plus.
  • Clinical and/or pharmaceutical industry experience in Gilead therapeutic fields strongly preferred (e.g., HIV, HCV, HBV, NASH, Rheumatoid Arthritis/Inflammation, Oncology)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of managed markets, HEOR, and disease management with at least 5 years of experience in Pharmaceutical industry, managed care , or similar organization (e.g., field based medical/HEOR) with >10 years preferred.
