Job Description

Project Manager

Project Managers with Gessner Engineering develop and facilitate execution of project strategy to ensure project success and predictable client experience by following the Project Framework.

Project Managers are responsible for overseeing all aspects of design projects from their initial assessment through completion, including but not limited to client interactions, design coordination, progress meetings, and construction administration. As a Project Manager, you will oversee and coordinate with your team.


  • Maintain team and departmental connection to organizational values and goals (Gessner Framework).
  • Collaborate with Business Development team to market Gessner’s services to new and existing clients, and to meet with existing clients for feedback on project teams
  • Strive to understand client needs and tailor project scopes and teams to provide bespoke project delivery
  • Facilitates proposal development
  • Assigns and oversees projects with Project Coordinators
  • Facilitates project initiation and internal kickoff meetings
  • Oversee project coordination processes for multiple projects
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules and deliverables
  • Develop, manage and report on project budgets
  • Coordinates external communication for project teams
  • Develops relationships with sub consultants
  • Facilitates discipline cross coordination
  • Collaborate to develop, review, and improve project processes
  • Develops team members and processes to continually improve client experience
  • Ensure proper invoicing
  • Assist in collections of Accounts Receivable
  • Review Timesheets & Expense Reports
  • Performs Construction Administration tasks including
    • Overseeing the preparation of contract documents (ASI, RFI, Submittals, etc…) including maintaining team accountability.
    • Host meetings (OAC, construction progress meetings)
    • Schedule and facilitate inspections and observations
    • Overseeing the review and reconcile pay apps and change orders


  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Science, Project Management, or other relevant area of study.
    • Alternative: 5 years of relevant workforce experience in lieu of a degree
  • Registered P.E. in the State of Texas, PMP, or AIA is a plus

Skills & Experience

  • Required:
    • 3+ years of Project Management/Coordination or related experience
    • Experience managing a team of technical experts (Engineers, Architects, Code Specialists)
    • Experience and familiarity with developing and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and other related documents
    • A desire to grow and develop yourself and others
    • Solutions-minded, collaborative, and self-initiating
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with Bluebeam
    • Experience with Construction Management Software like Procore, BIM 360, or E-Builder
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs
    • Experience in the design and construction of vertical (buildings) projects
    • Experience and familiarity with developing and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and other related documents
