Master Electrician

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports to: This position reports directly to: Director of Operations

Summary of Position:

The Master Electrician at Geoscape will be our electrical license holder and go-to for all residential and commercial electrical needs.

Department: Field Operations

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Estimate project costs at commercial site visits
  • Maintain high levels of quality and safety
  • Act as mentor for electrical apprentices
  • Answer calls and questions related to electrical work being done in the field
  • Ensure apprentices in the field have the PPE necessary to do their jobs in an OSHA compliant way and are using it properly
  • Perform all electrical duties needed to tie into commercial, medium voltage switch gear.
  • Assist with general site preparation and clean up
  • Run conduit and cables from solar panels to combiner boxes
  • Pull electrical wiring through electrical conduit
  • Install and connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, or other components and systems Install electrical enclosures
  • Sit for inspections and be able to communicate respectfully with building inspectors
  • Ensure the quality of Geoscape’s electrical work done by apprentices is up to code and aesthetically pleasing
  • Create end of job punch lists for subcontracted work
  • Ensure subcontracted work is done perfectly
  • Install and wire PV system monitoring devices
  • Install and wire inverters
  • Perform electrical calculations
  • Install PVC raceway
  • Connect and support DC wire
  • Complete electrical upgrades, rebuilds, meter relocations, taps, etc.
  • Interface with customers and respond to their needs
  • Keep track of company vehicle maintenance
  • Pull inventory for projects
  • Help maintain tools and vehicles in excellent condition
  • Refer all homeowner’s questions or concerns to the Director of Operations
  • Attend mandatory training sessions including new products, installation methodology, and safety practices
  • Communicate with customers in a professional, considerate and respectful manner
  • Unload and stage material Perform other needed job tasks as requested by leadership
  • Use company CRM to communicate job statuses, create daily reports, and upload job photos

Requirements Qualifications / Experience

  • More than 10 years of experience in electrical work including: conduit, wiring, upgrades, meter relocations, taps, etc.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical wiring and NEC codebook
  • Previous solar experience as a Foreman
  • Experience with the safe use of hand-held and power tools
  • Experience complying with OSHA safety requirements and regulations
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment background check, including drug screen and driving record
  • NJ state electrical contractors license mandatory
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record Ongoing
  • Strong desire to work for a renewable energy company
  • Strong work ethic
  • Understanding of roofing systems

  • Reliable and predictable attendance required

Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills in every interaction
  • Familiarity with hand tools and advanced construction techniques
  • Teamwork – able to establish collaborative working relationships with peers and supervisors
  • Basic computer competence, including internet and email
  • Advanced understanding of building codes relevant to the construction of PV systems

Working Conditions / Requirements :

  • Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body
  • Able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks Able to lift 50-75 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday Able to work comfortably on a roof daily Able to climb ladders, work on rooftops, work in attics and crawl spaces, etc Able to work in extreme weather environments (sun, heat, cold)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Able to work at heights of 20 feet off the ground or more
  • Able to wear protective equipment such as harnesses, hard hats, work boots, and protective eye wear
