Location

This position follows a hybrid schedule, meaning there will be a combination of working on site and working from home.

Job Summary

Provide leadership and advanced technical expertise to the information security program covering multiple units within a large campus organization. Efforts are aimed at establishing and maintaining the safety and ongoing protection of those units' information assets. Area within which the position operates may be centralized within the campus Office of Information Technology or within a campus department of significant size and complexity. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: units' management and staff, campus and OIT security leadership and security engineering staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: units' management.

Responsibilities

Key job responsibilities include:

  1. Be primary point of contact for College of Computing (CoC) Information Security.
  2. Advise CoC leadership regarding information security policies and practices.
  3. Represent CoC’s security concerns to the campus information security team.
  4. Develop, implement, and maintain an information security strategy.
  5. Develop and recommend CoC information security policies, standards, and best practices.
  6. Coordinate the development, implementation, compliance, and maintenance of system security plans (SSP) for research grants
  7. Advise CoC web team on web application security.
  8. Provide consulting on information security and physical security within GT.
  9. Work with TSO, campus auditors, and campus information security to audit firewalls and system security plans.
  10. Manage CoC information security incident responses
  11. Respond to issues revealed by campus vulnerability scans of CoC systems and work with TSO, faculty, and staff to mitigate identified threats.
  12. Regularly review threat publications to give CoC notice of problems in advance of their publication in mainstream media.
  13. Create information security training material.
  14. Conduct group training in information security for CoC faculty and staff.
  15. Provide academic support through class presentations and direct interaction with students.
  16. Actively represent GT and CoC in the information security community through participation in trade organizations and conference presentations.
  17. Architect novel security solutions for computing research in which an industry standard security model doesn't exist.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Six to seven years of job related experience
