Temporary Groundskeeper

George Fox University's Plant Services department is seeking a skilled, adaptable, and energetic Temporary Groundskeeper to join their team.

About the Job:

The Temporary Groundskeeper will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on our students and employees by maintaining attractive, functional, and safe grounds at the George Fox University main campus. This position is primarily responsible for the maintenance and care of University landscapes to keep them looking beautiful, inviting, and safe for everyone who visits.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Performing various landscape maintenance including, but not limited to, the following: bark dusting, edging, lawn mowing, planting, weeding, blowing, pressure washing, pruning.
• Assisting in landscape installation including: creating new lawn and bed areas, forming swales and contours, installing landscape products, structures and hardware, planting plants, trees and or shrubs, and installing irrigation.
• Safely operating various landscaping equipment such as tractors, trucks, and riding mowers.
• Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
• By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
• Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
• Other duties as assigned.

We're looking for candidates who have:

• A clean driving record along with the ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license and pass the University Driver Certification to operate all types of mechanized groundskeeping equipment on campus including Gators and tractors.
• The capacity to work well in a team setting and independently, with a strong emphasis on precision and inclusion.
• The innate ability to respond positively to emergency situations and to work cooperatively with other departments.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions, especially when responding positively to emergency situations.
• A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Job information:

• Hours Per Week - 40 hours (7:00 am to 4:00 pm)
• Duration - This temporary position will conclude within 6 months.
• Work Location - Newberg Campus
• Working Conditions - Physical requirements include frequently lifting more than 50 pounds, standing and/or stooping for extended periods of time, and traversing campus grounds for up to two hours while navigating rough terrain, slopes, and stairs in all types of weather.
