•Bachelor’s Degree in a Logistics or Business Management related field, with an MBA or certifications preferred
•At least 10 years of experience successfully managing a warehouse/distribution facility optimizing floor layout, transportation and logistics domestically/internationally (all modes), insuring export/import compliance of US & Foreign customs & environmental regulations, vendor contracts, and customer service.
•Strong history of inventory management, preparation, review and analysis of inventory reports
•Financial and data analysis skills required. Background of preparing / reviewing basic analysis to support capital spend on savings initiatives a preferred
•Must have Transportation experience, preferably with 3rd party transportation and international
•At least 5 years of experience with managing at least 10 staff members ideally in a warehouse, distribution and Lean environment.
•At least 5 years of pull based lean and systems architecture. Preferably experienced and certified in Lean Methodologies, especially Kan Ban.
•Proficient in data management skills, barcode/RFID technology and transactional systems design to include deployment of new and innovative material management strategies.
•Working knowledge of a MAPICS inventory or similar system. Fluency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have good collaborative skills to interface with internal and external customers.
•Experience with an ERP Business System. INFOR XA MAPICS experience a plus
•Strong leadership skills and proven experience in staff development. Ability to lead and motivate others.
•Knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 or AS9100C Quality Management Systems
•Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
•Basic knowledge of E-Commerce
•Basic working knowledge of lean principles and techniques
ABOUT THE JOB!
As a Change Agent, the Logistics Manager will cover inbound/outbound for both domestic/international shipments, maximizing efficiencies of fulfillment, lean, Kan Ban, staff, inventory management, and utilization of facilities for storage and distribution. Deployment of available resources for the safest and cost-effective manner to exceed customer expectations as well as interfacing with Finance to optimize inventory management systems.
•Leadership and continuous improvement of order processing, fulfillment and transportation
•Develop & improve warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and order fulfillment
•Develop warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment
•Maintain accountability and responsibility for labor cost controls & reduction
•Seek constant improvement, efficiency and cost-effectiveness in work processes. Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
•Monitor and review employees’ work activities through individual meetings and group meetings to ensure that all work activities are accurately proceeding to plan
•Oversee outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and quality of shipments
•Negotiate annual freight contracts for both domestic and international. Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements such as OTD, DTS, cycle counts.
•Handle all outbound and inbound domestic/international shipments including processing small package and truck shipments
•Provide freight quotes on requests for Customer Service and Sales, approve all international carriers, customs broker and freight forwarder invoices
•Conduct regular meetings with carrier representatives to ensure on-time and quality goals are maintained.
•Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management in accordance with OSHA regulations
•Maintains inventory accuracy through physical counts and reconciling with data storage system.
•Maintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts, inspecting equipment, and issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
•Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment
•Develop a "Strong 2nd" for your area of responsibility
•Work effectively with all Gentex departments to exceed internal and external expectations
•Staff management including documenting and communicating objectives, conducting performance appraisals, and appropriately addressing individual or group performance issues
•Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, while enforcing adherence to requirements and advising vendor contracts and customer service management on needed actions. This includes insuring export/import compliance of US & Foreign customs & environmental regulations,

•Schedule flexibility to support critical deadlines may be required.
Gentex’s Carbondale facility it located in North Eastern Pennsylvania and is part of Lackawanna County and the Blue Ridge Mountain Range. Carbondale is just minutes away from Scranton, PA about 100 miles from New York City and Philadelphia.
