As the traumatic brain injury (TBI) Pathway of Care manager within the Military Health System (MHS), the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center promotes state-of-the-science care from point-of-injury to reintegration for service members, veterans, and their families to prevent and mitigate consequences of mild to severe TBI.

The TBI Portfolio Manager will maintain, track and update DVBIC's extensive clinical and translational research portfolio, as well as report out progress or findings of TBI research to DVBIC stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities Include (not limited to):
+ Monitor progress and completion of multiple ongoing clinical and translational research projects within the DVBIC networkCollect and review research reports on status and progress of specific studies
+ Monitor outcomes and product deliverables generated from the research.
+ Maintain up-to-date research portfolio and interfaces with DVBIC research leadership
+ Write and present summaries, reports, information papers, publications, and critiques to appropriately document research progress and summarize research findings.
+ Assess and report problems with ongoing research studies; develop recommendations to correct problems Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure that research is executed on time and budget.
+ Provide support to applicants for research grants or applications for external funding to promote and explain the objectives of the research grant program and ensure application submissions are complete and on time
+ Works with the Office of Human Research Protection and other key members of the Division of Research to identify and eliminate problems and barriers to the research process.
+ Maintain visibility on broad array of military and civilian TBI research and related issues.Identify and communicate to DVBIC network researcher's new opportunities in TBI research.
+ Coordinate review and organizational approval of new research studies.
+ Master's degree required.
+ Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience or a related field strongly preferred.
+ 8+ years of related experience.
+ Knowledge of the principles and theoretical concepts of brain injury pathophysiology, clinical effects and treatment and general research knowledge required.
+ Knowledge of the process for applying for research funding required.
+ Ability to develop and implement scientifically sound research protocols required.
+ Ability to effectively author research reports required. Possess the ability to use metrics to assess brain injury research protocols under development and/or application is required.
+ Knowledge of the administrative processes appropriate to the above assignments is required.
+ Excellent organizational and inter- personal and communication skills, ability to develop and interact with network of researchers for sharing new research developments and identifying opportunities.
+ Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to carry light items - up to 25 lbs. May encounter patients who are confused, agitated, or abusive.
+ US citizenship required with the ability to pass a T3 security investigation.
+ Experience in TBI research or other areas of clinical research trials preferred.
+ Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care strongly preferred.
