GDIT is seeking a full-time senior ServiceNow developer and system administrator to be an important part of our platform support and development team on-site in Windsor Mill, MD. Presently we are on the London release of ServiceNow in the cloud and actively using modules within the ITSM, ITOM and ITBM suites. There is a large demand here for new capabilities in the platform and we are looking for an experienced integrator/developer/administrator to help improve our discipline in supporting this critical platform, and broaden its impact through module expansion, platform integration and automation. The successful candidate will serve as the key technical resource leading the configuration, development, support, and maintenance of the ServiceNow implementation and have fluency in ServiceNow design and development principles that enables them to work with external development partners and key stakeholders to develop enterprise business solutions for our customers that leverage ITIL processes and best practices.
ServiceNow (SNOW) is used across all of our teams and scope includes incident management, problem management, service catalog, change management, release management, agile, resource management, knowledge management, service call, configuration management database (CMDB) including discovery, event management, asset management, and Continual Improvement Management (CIM).
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure overall systems availability via good design/best practices, thorough testing, promotion discipline and responsiveness in root cause analysis Provide platform currency with consistently smooth upgrades and environment synchronization Partner with leadership to maintain and drive towards an aggressive platform roadmap Demo platform capabilities to shape what is possible/recommended, not simply taking orders; rapidly prototype new solutions Interact with platform customers and translate their business requirements into actionable development tasks Reliably estimate relative work effort for various requests for self/team to enable prioritization Proactively maintain operational documentation and SOPs to reduce support risk & inefficiency Serve as lead Senior ServiceNow application developer responsible for implementing using best practices as pertains to workflows, integration, configuration, customization, orchestration, access controls, etc. Serve as a lead technical reviewer and contributor in requirements, design and code reviews Prepare and execute test cases and test scripts; support user acceptance testing Proactively stay on top of new capabilities in the platform and educate team members and customers Other duties as assigned...
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field. A minimum of seven (7) years' experience with the full SDLC responsibilities leveraging mature industry languages, with particular emphasis on JavaScript. In other words, be a solid developer independent of the ServiceNow platform, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong people interaction skills regardless of audience. Able to communicate and listen well with business and technical people, regardless of title, with good self-awareness. Solid skills using the NOW platform: developing APIs via script includes, a competency of client and server APIs beyond just Glide record (i.e. Ajax, date/time, various utilities on developer portal, etc.), Service Portal work leveraging Angular, mobile, integration hub, etc. ITIL Foundations Certification (v3 or higher) Strong analytical and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Certified System Administrator (CSA) on a recent SNOW platform release and a minimum of two (2) years' experience as a primary ServiceNow system administrator on a mature installation. Certified Application Developer (CAD) on a recent SNOW platform release and a minimum of four (4) years' experience as a primary ServiceNow developer on a mature installation. Capable with configuration, scripting (client/server), integrations (REST, SOAP, etc.), data model/tables, forms, record-producers, security/access (Glide), workflows, applications, events, email, homepages/reports, external data, Machine Learning, Orchestration, NOW Platform and custom Applications, etc. Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) on a recent SNOW platform release and/or a minimum of two (2) years' experience as a primary ServiceNow implementer on a mature installation. Certified Application Specialist (CAS) on a recent SNOW platform release and/or a minimum of one (1) year experience implementing and enhancing Performance Analytics.
More specifically having experience with multiple of the following products: IT Service Management, Event Management and Project Portfolio Management.
Additional ITIL certifications beyond Foundations. Experience working on project teams that leverage Agile/Scrum. A command of relational database concepts. A team player, able to work in a matrixed organization. Previous experience working with and mentoring junior ServiceNow developers. A thirst for knowledge, a track record of staying current with new releases (i.e. Delta exams, micro-certs and Knowledge attendance) and a plan for continuing to do the same. Also a willingness to share that knowledge with others. Strong written communication skills.
