The Engineering Project Manager II is responsible for planning and executing project development activities including supporting new business proposals and existing customers. The position requires strong technical and cross-functional project development and business process knowledge, superior people leadership skills, functional and project management experience, proficiency in quality systems, and business planning knowledge. 

This position works closely functional leaders in Generac Grid Services (product management, software engineering, control systems, systems engineering, network operations, marketing, IT, finance etc.) and other Generac business groups to provide leadership and management for projects.  This leadership role is responsible for planning and executing projects to ensure KPI’s are met and in parallel build trust and long-term relationships with our customers through consistent and reliable performance. This position acts at a high level of independence to keep track of status, actions and progress on projects and communicates back to the appropriate stakeholders in the organization.



  • Plan and execute multiple large, complex projects to meet or exceed schedule, cost, scope, quality & safety commitments
  • Provide project management leadership to teams for executing new projects including: developing scope, schedules, estimates, execution plans, reports, budgeting and revenue forecasting etc.
  • Document customer requirements and effectively translate into scope, design and implementation requirements
  • Work with cross-functional team members across geographic locations and different time zones to deliver project objectives
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimum project results
  • Define and drive risk and mitigation plans for projects. Define and lead contingency option assessments when needed, then select and execute mitigation plans
  • Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis and determine the correct escalation path
  • Contribute to achieving strategic initiatives for Generac Grid Services while delivering value to


  • Identify, evaluate and document “lessons-learned” during project execution
  • Ensure understanding and commitment among all strategic decision makers for the successful application of best practice of project management and problem solving. Ensure consistency with corporate vision, direction, policies and guidelines.
  • Effectively execute and provide suggestions for improvement of the project development process.
  • Facilitate collaboration between departments to identify and harvest new project development concepts, technologies, techniques, standards and procedures.
  • Actively participate in identifying and implementing continuous process improvements of the Generac phase/gate process.  Lead some CI initiatives in this area.
  • Communicate best practices and lessons learned to project team members on future projects


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR equivalent work experience
  • 7 years of progressive work experience in design engineering, project engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of project management experience in project planning and execution
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced multi-project environment



  • Project Management Professional or equivalent Project Management Certification
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background
  • Experience in the Energy or Utility Industries
  • Experience in DERMS, Demand Response, Peak load management & Grid optimization



Generac Grid Services is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in Denver, Colorado is $100,000 to $130,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term incentives. Relocation to Denver is expected.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
